being a bit of a hi fi buff and spending silly money on cinema and hifi i wanted to have atleast some music in the s1 exige, however with lack of space this has been tough. Following is a description of what i have done to get a sensible result.
I have had the bulk head moved towards the seats to give more room in the engine bay for future sc mods etc. its alloy all the way to the roof.
the origional 4" speakers pods are still in their origional position.
I have put in a sony headunit with 55w per channel, i pod input, bluetooth and usb port enabling you to stick a usb pen in and listen to music from there, pretty clever i think.
Ive replace the speaker cable with “QED silver”
4" JBL P462 2 way 150 watt speakers, the provide excellent top end and mid. Behind the speakers ive glued in foam to help tighten the sound.
Im currently looking a “small” 300 watt 2 channel amp, to aid the headunit in powering the 4" JBLS
To provide some bass ive put in a sub, yes a sub. Its a Pioneer TS-WX11A Sealed Amplified Subwoofer. Its 80mm deep and basically the same dimension as A4 paper, It fits neatly between the two seats at head level on the bulk head.
Ive wiered it all in and am just waiting for an amp which i will be mounting in the alloy boot ive made.
Ill give a review and pics when finished along with the rest of the car.
I know the exige is not about hifi, comfort etc…yes it is a lightweight trackday weapon so please dont shoot me down, i just want some music from time to time, and id like it to sound better than a pair of headphones in a bathroom.
