Lotus specialist SSC Australia has developed an improved oil gerotor pump gear set for the 2ZZ. Machined from 4340 alloy steel.
interesting but big cost as well
we have had our version of these done in the UK, they’ve been developed and tested on our engine dyno on NA, modified SC and a turbo engine, they’ve also been running on our hire cars since April. We had issues with previous ones we had bought in so ditched them and the HKS guys started from scratch.
Final version was signed off six weeks ago and they will be available in about 2-3 weeks, I can’t recall the spec off he top of my head but I think they are EN24 superpolished and will retail around 150
Uprated valves with hardened tip, springs and titanium retainers also now available rated to a safe 9000rpm
That sounds way more sensibly priced
Good stuff, well interested…where’s Joel?
Here
and still looking for a bullet proof solution. What puzzles me, is that in my case, the gears did not break. It was the oil pump’s gasket seal that got out of place.
The gasket seal, how’s that moved? Maybe it was fitted incorrectly…
Edit…Am I thinking of the right part?

It’s what I’ve been told by the mechanic. He also assumed material defect or falsely assembled. I haven’t actually seen the failing pump, unfortunately. The whole engine was shipped back to Lotus.
Check out #5 on this diagram: http://www.deroure.com/diagrams.asp?TBL=2001&MAK=1&MDL=21&SMA=1&SMO=11&ST=bar&SC=0
I’ll upload some pictures of these if someone can tell me how!!
Simples. Use a picture host (e.g. photobucket) to upload your image & then use the image icon when you post a reply on here (it’s 3 icons to the right of the smiley). To be doubly sure, if you find an existing thread containing an image, click quote & study the text to reveal how it has been done previously
Rotors are EN24 (so same material etc as the SSC ones described as 4340 Alloy Steel), they are superpulished with a matt finish.
nice, I will have a set when I do my engine, is there an expected peak rev range these can take?
Your doing some good stuff here Stephen.
These are available now if anyone is building an engine in the near future!
we have engines on the shelf with them fitted along with Motorsport valves, valve springs & retainers as well, all good for 9000rpm+
See you next month

What are you guys doing for cams ?
We’ve had our own spec done based on testing the stuff available on the market (Kent, Piper, GT, CAT and something else that I can’t remember at the moment. Basically I think Mick then had a specific one made which combined the best low end driveability that we saw with the best spread of top end power.
They are being made at the moment and will be manufacturerd by Kent.
I think Geary will be releasing some kits shortly which will include ECU \ Cams \ Intake \ Injectors etc prep mapped for a stock 2ZZ unit so that it’s pretty much bolt on and fire up.
We have some specific turbo cams that are about to be tested in the next few weeks.
I’ve had someone emailing me tonight about these gears and the complaining because early on in the process I’ve estimated the retail price at 150, the actual retail price due to a few changes is now 195 so I’m misleading people with false advertising!!! On the basis that I generally don’t sell much retail to end users I kind of resent his comments., I try not to be overly commercial on forums. As a general rule for stuff like this we are trade only but I will supply genuine owners direct if I’m approached plus we obviously sell to our track & race customers.
so you are al aware Eliseparts are currently selling hem at 189.95
the changes we made late on we’re as a result of he QC process so now;
all gears are super polish finished (shiny not matt)
all gears are rotation tested by hand in an actual oil pump housing
all gears are fitted Onto a new 2ZZ crank for a fit test
all gears are micrometer measured at 5 different points
This has put the cost up a bit but for any of you guys who want to buy one I’ll honour the 150 for current Exiges.com members for the next month or so.
Didn’t mean to rant on…I’m losing the plot with people that are only interested in price and don’t give a fuck about service, back up and accountability.
Lol welcome to my world AKA China!
