IF...

… I were mulling buying an Elise up to circa £12K, to keep in the garage as a ‘keeper’ and use when I come back to the UK, what one would you go for!

S2 135R although i think they are a tiny bit outside of the 12k bracket.

Pete, would this be for road or track use? if it’s for the odd track blast then I’m sure I and a few others will let you behind the wheel of their pride & joy?

if it is for fun blasts on your favourite roads then that’s more difficult. A limited run model or special edition would be cool, but really condition first above all else then just enjoy the search or ‘the one’

If I were you I’d buy a racecar that has been prepared for Elise Trophy. Ok for the occasional road blast, great for trackdays and ready to race if you fancy it.

Like this one

Or if you’re in no hurry wait til the end of te season…

Great to hear from you by the way and to hear that you’re continuing the long tradition of acquiring a Lotus, selling it, regretting it, acquiring a Lotus…

Bugger, my first Elise was an S1 160… then an Exige S1… then an Elise S2 111s… then an Exige S2 S… then Shrek!!!

Yup Ben… nothing like stating the obvious!!!

Good news is that Andy D is giving me a go of his Exige next week at Wakefield, ‘near’ Sydney! :sunglasses: Cannot wait! (Thanks Andy!)

Pity my lid and gloves are in the UK!!!

So, yes condition and something less ‘common’… I am keeping en eye on PH.

Part of me says an early MMC S1, the other an S2 135R… but then a car with some ‘track prep’ would be cool to as history clearly
shows I (we) all go down the modding route!!! :open_mouth:

Decisions!

If anyone sees something nice, please let me know!

Cheers,

Pete

Hello Pete,

If your just looking for a road car for the odd blast then personally I would hunt for a good S1 111s, mine was by a good stretch the best elise based car I have owned or driven down a nice twisty road, the light weight coupled with that engine and gear box were just perfect imho.
The S2 111s was better day to day and and on the motorway and the exige was just a beast but if the keys were laid out in front of me on a sunny day up in the lake district I would take the keys to the S1 111s every time.

The S2 135R is also a very nice car and they do look great but its a little slower, the std suspension is generally too crashy and the tyres are more expensive. Still, it’s probably better looking and nicer inside than an S1…

Hmmm on second thoughts

Just good to hear you are back in the market

Good to hear you heading back to Lotus ownership Pete.

You know you are more than welcome to come and have a blast in Shrek or one of the other boys when you are next over bud

I’ve never even met you Pete but you’re welcome to drive mine too

Cheers Rob!!! (never met you either!!! )

but perhaps you should listen to your Avtar before such a kind offer!!!

Happy for you to have a drive in mine as well

Ade, Steve, et al!

Many thanks guys… that is just great!

I will be back from OZ at the end of July so lets hope there are lots of track days booked eh!

Cheers mate,

Pete.

… BTW, I am not receiving PM’s for some site technical reason… :open_mouth:

… sorted now!

Hi Pete,
Another vote for an S1 111s, or preferably an S1 withB&C160 or PTP160 upgrade. I can confirm they’re as quick as an NA S2 exige… (Oops! Prepare for a verbal bashing)

… so is the S2 111s mate… as you may recall!!

I’d almost forgotten about that ) thanks for reminding me. I put it down to the A1 jet fuel you were running
