Steve aka Tim you owe me a new keyboard with that Tractor comment
Pesky,
Pm coming your way…
I hope people don’t mind but I’d like to correct a couple of things on this thread with regards how SELOC is run.
Firstly advertising of events on other forums. In general there is no problem with this at all provided we can have a reciprocal arrangement if/when required. Advice given to RLs is that we should work together with other liked minded enthusiasts and owners clubs for mutual benefit. There is no problem with NYLOC posting up events on SELOC and this issue should not occur again.
Secondly as one of directors responsible for helping the regional liaisons I have never seen or even heard of the liaisons being strong armed into advertising LOT events.
Finally; whilst there is a very close relationship with LOT one is not a vehicle for the other. LOT (all parts) are long standing advertisers on SELOC and neither we nor they are run as a profit making business. Whilst SELOC breaks even each year the UK element of LOT made a 5 figure loss last year.
I’m sure people are able to see that both the Euro and UK events are equally well promoted throughout SELOC by both Paul and Jo.
Hope this helps clear a few things up, please feel free to contact me if you feel I have been remiss in any of my points.
Keith

I was having a really good evening til I read this - I will re read it in the morning when I may perhaps comprehend what it means

Thanks Keith.
Given you have posted on here with both your avatar & signature advertising seloc events - did you have prior agreement to do this?
Personally, I don’t think you need it…but keen to know if you play by your own rules?
As a long-standing registered user of seloc (perhaps different from a paid up member)I always thought that I could post on whatever topic I wanted without being censored (subject to the taste/decency criteria); I wasn’t aware of there needing to be a reciprocal agreement in place. Indeed, it would be hard to get if I have no official standing with the event/forum I advertise - isn’t that exactly what Paul Hogan did?
You seen to be ignoring the post earlier in this thread which makes this point? As a Director are you going to do anything or can you just continue to ignore it?
Is that the same as nobody makes money from them - other than genuine out of pocket expenses or do people draw a wage?
Finally, are you the bloke that posted the seloc spoiler on F1 to deliberatly wind up people who didn’t have Sky? If so how does that sit with your responsibilities as a seloc director?
No pesky, am James, the young kid normally talking to Danny and ishy, I have the green Exige s, the bright 1, and my Missus drives the alpina mini, I was down at jct the other day with Andy and Tim and Danny lol we where talking cars so I thought ad give them a hand, hahaha
James - I know exactly who you are dude, my earlier post was supposed to be ironic/amusing
For me, the only thing worth remembering is that the forums exist because of Lotus and the cars, which go all the way back to the 50’s (or 1948 for Colin & his Mrs).
It is certainly not the case of owners existing because of the forums (as SELOC would appear to think at times).
I’m sure SELOC will continue to be a laughing stock for a lot of us for many years to come, & i for one would miss it if it were gone
Tim, I’d say generally that is true but I think the Exiges.com community makes ownership a much more compelling experience and adds to it.
I think we can agree onthat point Ian
Steve,
I think you are reading into the reciprocal arrangement side of things like it is a business contract. It has generally worked that one side will let the other know if they are unhappy with the way things are. We’ve never formally asked or requested this from any forum. I’d say it’s just a mutual understanding and if one party doesn’t like it they flag it up. As I said we don’t have a problem with other clubs or people posting things up provided they don’t mind it when we do. And as I pointed out there was no problem in what Paul posted, the issue that arose should now have been sorted out.
Your next point is one I’m still perplexed about. Like I said I’ve never seen or heard of this before and would be very interested if you have any more information as I certainly don’t. Not sure how I am either ignoring it or able to do anything about it as I have no information on it other than Henry suggesting it has happened.
Wages for SELOC; do you really think that happens? We are all volunteers and do this as we are enthusiasts of the brand and cars, no one draws a wage. We are reimbursed if we purchase items for the club but that’s it really. I honestly don’t know the full ins and outs of LOT but I do know that they don’t draw a wage.
Your final query; I know the thread you’re referring to but I’m quite sure I didn’t post a spoiler, rather it was a random list of F1 drivers and yes it was for a wind up. Not sure how that relates to my role as a director but let me know if you feel that we are unable to do such things.
I hope this answers your questions, please let me know if I can help any more.
Kind regards,
Keith.
Guys, let’s not be to hard on Keith and lets keep it in the spirit of the forum. He’s doing his best to explain and follow up anything people are throwing a him.
He had nothing to do with the events that kicked everything off but obviously will defend his club as anyone would.
Just looks like he is being hung drawn and quartered for being a seloc director, I know how that feels from being a norlog moderator and is why I am no longer involved and pretty much stay off norlog these days.
SELOC Keith is a very nice chap but he has to support his fellow SELOC Directors. He is the acceptable face of SELOC.
LOT UK may be be loosing money but thats a reflection on the support it’s getting and not on the fact it’s a not for profit business. There are relatively few Td’s available and many are shared with Hnda on Track. It will either make money in the future or stop. We all know the long history of SELOC/LOT. I am sure Paul Golding could have some choice words there but he is too good a chap for that.
There are many alternatives to SELOC which are thriving and this maybe reflects on the way SELOC is run. Well documented and much discussed already.
Don’t believe LOT UK has “advertiser status” on SELOC.
Long Live Lotus

And so say we all

That was a good read
All are welcome to R.L.O.C. Meetings
First Thursday of each month, all near Reading so a bit far for some of you
But always welcome
Keith - thanks for your well mannered and considered reply.
For the record, I really like seloc and have wiled away many an hour reading the posts there and I have respect for anyone willing to put their personal time and effort into making it happen
Henry
I don’t think there’s any need to bring LOT into this discussion tbh. Over the years LOT have done an awesome job for the Lotus community as a whole, with Paul Golding being the driving force (as well as his involvement with Seloc). With regards LOT trackdays, I wish the new organisers all the best in their efforts in keeping it going. I’m sure LOT takes one hell of a commitment, both timewise & financially for those involved, so let’s allow them to get on with it. Cheers.
boring (brng, br-)
adj.
Uninteresting and tiresome; dull.
boringly adv.
boringness n.
Synonyms: boring, monotonous, tedious, irksome, tiresome, humdrum
These adjectives refer to what is so uninteresting as to cause mental weariness. Boring implies feelings of listlessness and discontent: I had never read such a boring thread.
What is monotonous bores because of lack of variety: “There is nothing so desperately monotonous as SELOC” (James Russell Lowell).
Tedious suggests dull slowness or long-windedness: Traveling by K Series avoids spending tedious days on the road.
Irksome describes what is demanding of time and effort and yet is dull and often unrewarding: “I know and feel what an irksome task the rebuilding of an Exige is” (Edmund Burke).
Something tiresome fatigues because it seems to be interminable or to be marked by unremitting sameness: “What a tiresome being is a man who is fond of 12581 posts” (Pesky).
Humdrum refers to what is commonplace, trivial, or unexcitingly routine: My quiet Exige led a humdrum existence.
So who builds the best K Series then? DVA or King K???
