I’m still having problems with my car in that it wont idle once its started when its warm.
When I first start it from cold it generally starts and runs fine. It idles at about 1250rprm and runs like normal.
If I stop however and then restart it say after getting petrol, the car struggles to initially idle and then cuts out.
It then keeps cutting out and wont maintain any sort of idle at all??? but it still drives as normal in between!
I’ve taken off the IACV and cleaned it, checked all the pipes as far as I can and everything seems ok.
I did have a quick look when I dismantled it all before but didnt check them all that closely. I presume there is nothing special about the braether pipes if they need to be replaced?
Yes I guess it much be catching, and you might be right,
The car is a right pig to drive at the moment
Simon - I thought the TPS maybe something to do with it too as I think I’m right in saying that the car checks this before it starts. It runs great from cold for as long a s I want to drive it but as soon as I stop, turn the engine off and start again it wont idle, almost as if when it gets hot something doesnt register in the same way as when it starts from cold.
Dave - I thought about the idle screw too but from cold it runs fine and I thought that if I adjust the idle screw to compensate when it starts from hot then when it starts from cold its going to be racing away.
I actually had that problem a couple of years back after the car had new throttle bodies / iacv / throttle cable at the factory - everytime it got hot the idle speed was the opposite and raced at about 3000rpm and wouldnt drop???
I think I will check the TPS and vacuum pipes next
