Ideas for keeping the battery alive

Evening All,
I’ve recently had to start storing my car in an underground car park where it is not possible to connect to a battery conditioner. I only use the car once every two weeks or so and am concerned the battery will drain to the point where I’ll no longer be able to disarm/unlock the car.

As I see it I think I have four options;

  1. drive the car more often to keep the battery charged,
  2. lock the car without using the alarm (using the key in barrel locks in the doors) to prolong battery life,
  3. buy a second battery as a back up and connect via the auxilliary ports in the event the main battery dies,
  4. be prepared to call the AA.

I’m currently leaning toward (3) but am unsure if letting the battery die will cause problems to the alarm / immob. / ECU ?

Any bright ideas or comments welcome,
cheers, Tim

you might find a large solar panel will charge it ok due to the fluro lights?

Another option is to fit a battery isolator cut off and lock the doors manually. The car is immobilised by virtue of having now power to start it anyway…

my 2010 is good for i think 2-3 weeks without use, though the problem then is it needs used a fair amount of use to get the charge back to 100%. It barely started back in December and after a 90min drive it still didn’t sound too great on start up.

perhaps a bigger battery is an option

this is what i do, worked perfect for the last couple of years.

Thanks for the replies; battery isolator duly bought off eBay just now for 8.49. Bargain!
