I want this car.,

where did it come from ?
the 255 is not a UK model in road going form.

2 former keepers already. reg 1-1-06 so 20 months old which is not possable as that car was not out then !!!

Looks like a Cup with the larger cooler etc was sure Plans had offered the parts? Thats the one that Adrian Newie drove at Donnie.
Know of a bloke getting his 255 delivered this month def 1st in Scotland not sure how many are in the UK yet.

This car is featured in the current LCI magazine, driven by Adrian Newey, on track. He is very impressed by it & frequently refers to it as being ‘a road car’.

AFAIK it can be bought as a road car for the uk, hence the B&C sale.

I can try & scan/post the whole article if you like

it just seems odd because Lotus said this car is not available in the UK at all full stop.

IE you cannot buy one not even from the Motorsport Dept.

now this car is 20 months old which is way before the launch of the 255 CUP car.

Here

You will have to scoll down a bit for the road options. Maybe Lotus have quietly changed their minds

Yep when i recently purchased an exige gt 243 thingy i was told i could now order the 255 i had originally been after for uk delivery! This is after being told by all the dealers i had previously contacted that it was for sale in Europe only

Hi Guys,
I picked up my new Cup 255 last week. I was told it was the first in the UK. Am slowly running it in.

Looking at the Pistonheads advert, i think it’s a standard exige [or S] that’s been upgraded by Motorsport - it does not have the rollcage [though an optional delete on the 255] or the kill switch and extinguisher that come as standard. From what i gathered, the 255 does not have the same road/track spec options as the 240 had and comes in track spec only [but with road options if that makes sense].

cheers
Denis

I know a guy with a S1 190 Elise with a letter from Lotus saying that they’d never make a roading going version of the Motorsport Elise. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Exige!

Ian

Lotus are complete liars again.

not good for the GT owners imho.

They Lie about every model which comes out over the last 10 years.

If you read this Lotus which I know you do ffs what is wrong with your marketing dept.

And the Motorsport dept is just as bad.

I also have a letter from Lotus stating this car would not be avalable in the UK from the guy who actually stopped it being sold in the UK in the first place.
A: why would you stop it in the UK anyway ?
b: Why would you go back on what you said ?

Rant over

The well worn phrase used by the factory is ‘no current plans’. It’s a bit like an MOT statement - worthless as soon as is made.

saw this car in the flesh today - WOOF. Roof scoop is just the absolute daddy. 3 people were scheduled to view it today - its had a bit of a spanking on the track but if I hadn’t only just swapped into the Exige S then I would be very tempted!
