is there any carbon on it???
sure there are many places in the UK that will port and polish your head for you (phnar phnar )
Well…
Good find Jonny, it’s the only non carbon item on their website.
I haven’t seen many good upgrades for the n/a engine so it’s encouraging to see this option. The original engine is pretty impressive so it would be interesting to see how much more flow and revs they generate from this head. The technical description almost suggests that the Toyota/Yamaha factory head is machined using wooden spatulas (everyone knows it’s only Hondas that are made that way ) but I’m sure they’ll be pretty accurate for valve dimensions. There’s probably some opportunity to improve the cast surfaces for better flow. At 2000 bucks for an exchange head plus remapping it needs to be donating some extra ponies.
Have you seen any other good upgrades? Anyone using individual throttle boddies?
I once had a head gas flowed and ported by a company in Brum “Autosprint” around 1987 ish …
It never went as well as a standard head , swapped heads around on a couple of dirrerent engines at the time , sure enough it was clearly not as good as standard !!!
2.0 Opel CIH Engine …
Just remembered they reground the cam too for more performance… cam was shagged after a few thousand miles…
Fitted a Kent after that to a standard head and the motor sang…
I think there is a guy in the USA on throttle bodies head work and cams, he is near 240hp I think, I’ll try to find the link…
Find it Ade, Wes and I need more NA power! Superchargers are just soooooooooo gay!
Hey Wes, so 1k inc the sump sending the old head back I reckon. I’m also convinced I need a map anyways as I’m not using the Quicksilver setup the Hanger111 GT flash was originally done with…so with the new head I may give it ago.
Ha ha
240bhp from the n/a sounds sweet. That’s in line with the duratec power outputs and would help narrow the gap to the nifty escorts.
Especially those from Eastern Europe
Now you see that’s jonny’s fault for starting a thread about expensive head jobs.
On my budget I will have to stick to DIY head jobs
I’m liking the sound of this n/a power, I saw that frank had stroked his bonkers super turbo Exige, has anyone done this with and n/a car its not going to be cheap but a 2.0l toyota is definitely going boost the torques nicely I can’t help thinking a 240bhp 1.8 is going to be very peaky
I’m being advised against this sadly
I agree. The S1600 rally engines are 220+ bhp but it’s easier to keep them reving as they are coupled to sequential close ratio 6 speeds.
Sadly the sequential SADEV option for the Toyota engine probably adds another 12k. Despite wanting to stick with n/a engines it all makes the Audi option look the most cost effective power plant.
Audi baby, you know it makes sense!!
