I read the new Lotus mag yesterday

Oh dear :frowning:

I do realise I am probably not ment to understand it as I am clearly no longer the target but what a load of yuppy horse shit. Lotus as we know it is dead.
Amy feking Winehouse even got a page in it

Boothy

Oh and 20 a copy, what a giggle.

I’ve not read it yet…is it really that bad?

I liked the old version as the articles were interesting and it didn’t have a load of adverts in it.

I had visions of the new version having adverts for Golf clubs, yachts and expensive watches…

Hi

Will this mag come in place for the Lotus Int. Magazine or is it an extra mag. on top of this?

I cannot find the Lotus Int. Club link anymore (as I cannot find the (old) Motorsport catalogue).

Regards

Q.

Well in my opinion, the last one was Corporate Marketing bollox with some nice pics, so there’s no hope for this one.
And I wouldnt grace anything with that Winehouse woman in it, with my time.

Well what can I say about it… The first god know how many pages are British icons (cough) starting with Kate Moss, working through Wayne Roony and Amy Shitehouse.
After that there is a page saying ‘come join us on our journy’ with a little about the new cars and how they are the first company ‘ever’ to launch a totally new range at the same time.
Me being me I would guess there is a reason no company has ever tried this before but what do I know.

Then there are some expensive watches et al, oh and a few pages on the F1 team… So I guess it went to press more than a few weeks ago

There was nothing on the current line up (I do not recall seeing one pic of a current car), IMHO its very sad times for Lotus and fans of the brand as the current management want nothing to do with everything that has made the cars great and are hell bent on becoming the next Ferrari.

Boothy

Oh did I say it costs 20???

This is all very depressing.

Boothy I hope you didnt actually buy the thing!

But chaps “We” enthusiasts are not the market they want…
ie enjoy handling and appreciate the heritage of Lotus and its design goals.
They now want “New Money” wizzers that dont really enjoy cars for DRIVING but just for status “I buy it just because I can”
Sadly “WE” dont make them a profit but they see other status cars suceeding and think they can join them…
Good luck to them I hope they suceed but “WE” will be excluded as being little people and of no consequence.

NOW Paul Golding could buy the rights to the Elise range and really make it work…

Sorry to say Clive is right - that is why they are so concerned about the “brand image” as its critical for their sales success in Asia ( where I suspect the they see potential sales ).

There are a lot of people getting rich needing to spend some cash on a lifestyle and beleive it or not it seems that is the market Lotus now want.

As these people mostly have no idea about heritage they have to be suduced by the hype.
