…where all the wind came from.
In the foot well there are 4 huge air ducts (lots of holes) for A/C cars. In mine they are supposed to be covered by a plastic panel but both where broken and flying around where the battery is… need to find some sheet metal…

Ah, that’s why I have these holes there.
But I didn’t get about plastic covers. Where are they?
Maybe a A/C car owner can confirm. In my parts manual I found two plastic covers, covering the holes from the outside. The description says “for non A/C cars”.
For some reason mine where both broken. From the footwell I looked straight into the battery and fan bay.
Made some covers from sheet aluminum today. Will put them into place tomorrow.
I have holes on the front wall in the footwell and I have A/C in my car. There are no plastic covers behind these holes.
You won’t have the covers then. You will have the “air recirculation ducting” See elise parts manual page 209-210
I covered mine the second day I had the car, I simply but aluminium tape over over the holes. Even though I had a/c the holes where flowing in heat so I covered them to try to help reduce the cabin temp. To strips over, on the cabin side. Simple.
That’s the lotus way to fix the problem.
I thought that scotch tape is only russian style in fixing things.
I live in Hungary. Your legacy is strong
I am reminded of this urban myth…
During the height of the space race in the 1960s, legend has it, NASA scientists realized that pens could not function in space. They needed to figure out another way for the astronauts to write things down. So they spent years and millions of taxpayer dollars to develop a pen that could put ink to paper without gravity. But their crafty Soviet counterparts, so the story goes, simply handed their cosmonauts pencils.
Much more on this delightful topic HERE
If I would cover them with tape I would have missed the sheer joy of working with sheet metal and making stuff…
Rene I removed the sheets to save weight!!!
Glad its still going strong.
