I need a bigger car...

…yep Mrs Benja is currently carrying the third in-line to my Exige, due in Sept  If he/she arrives on time there will be a couple of weeks where I will have three kids under four years old…looking forwards to that

Anyways, I’ve started the lengthy process of deliberating what family wagon I need to house 3xkid seats as my current A3 Sportback ain’t gonna cut it :frowning: I so don’t want a Zafira or some other dullness and I won’t get away with ‘doing a Jonny’ and accidentally buying a four seat car…please lads help me out with some suggestions.

Before buying a new car, have you thought about a vasectomy?

Rearrage these words : door, shutting, has, horse, after, bolted, the

Seriously though (well the above was also serious!), many congratulations.

The “3rd” is the easiest…although there was a gap of 4 years between our 2nd & 3rd

Okay, mate - get booked on more trackdays…try abroad, as you’ll be further away from your lovenest

Lovenest? More like a Ratsnest for the foreseeable!

I’m going to start a new TDO with creche facilities,…probably the only chance I’ll get for trackdays next year :frowning:

Got no idea what to suggest, I am moving up in size to a 3 door A3 when it is delivered in July as I find my fiesta to small :frowning:
Oh on the other hand have you considered a Ford S Max? they are supposed to drive well

Congrats (again!) Ben!

Do what I have done (aside from the vastectomy!)… and buy a used 7 seat Volvo V70 Estate!

Heaps of room and dirt cheap second hand too. Get the wiesel and you’ll also get 40+ mpg…

AND, the best news is even my 156 BHP feels quick after driving it!!!

Congrats mate.

The answer is two cars!!

Your Mrs and two of your kids in one car and you and your favourite kid in the Exige.

Job jobbed!!

Not too late to change to a low miles 5 door A3 Sportback TDI 170 Quattro S-Line matey  I might know someone who is gonna be selling one soon!

Thanks for the tip about the S-Max I’ll take a look. MPV stylie is only when other options have been exhausted though tbh…plus that would do nothing for me in the power/weight stakes.

Yep, friend of mine has a big family and is a fellow vehicle dynamics engineer. He absolutely loves his S-Max. Suppose to drive really well for a bus…

Tried that line but the it did not got exec approval :frowning: She read it as I take the older kid who you can hold an intelligent conversation with and disappear over the horizon and she has to endure a longer journey time with the two with the highest propensity to scream.

Volvo V70, I’ll add that to the list. Do they do a V8 one  I do tiny miles so maybe a luxo-barge may suit ala S8?

Benja

Speak with Con - he’ll sort you out with a cracking deal on a MPV Pug, I’m sure

I ve tried a few “family wagons”, I tried having a sporty family car but their always compromised and never work, and driving them daily means they get boring so dont feel “special” after about a month.

I changed again recently from an M3. I wanted something with some offroad ability as the village I live in gets 2-3ft of snow every year and additionally my line of work can take me to side of hills & building type sites, but didnt want a big 4x4. Had to be good and comfy for long motorway journeys etc as well, and again had to be spacious and family friendly.

I picked up a 5 year old Audi A6 All-Road. Its absolutely first rate as a family car, looks nice on the drive, Audi always look good. It was cheap, especially considering it was 48k new (not even a 6th of its new price) has sat-nav, leather etc. And vast boot being an estate. And generally mint condition.

You can get diesels etc so good fuel economy. I dont pay for petrol, so dont worry to much, mine is the 2.7 V6 Twin Turbo version. Its not a rocket ship but it doesnt hang about either…

Its not everyones taste but i like it - and has proven ideal family car.

First - big congratulations to Mr and Mrs B

Are you certain there’s only one bun in the oven tho’ - our 2nd turned out to be 2nd and 3rd  - maybe it will be Q7 after all.

Going to be expensive.!!!
Try a Beema X3 tows well too. 38+mpg Oil burner with good ish acceleration…but looks terrible …so I have to travel disguised as a old git.!!..

seriously though congratulations !

Ref the car you’re welcome to one of my new car discount forms or I can get you a nice ex management one.

We’ve just brought out the 5008 which is a really good car to drive. It’s had top press write ups also with the press praising it’s ride and handling - all in a car that’s got 7 seats.

Give me shout if I can help

Congratulations Ben and Family!!

I’m still trying to cope with one nipper now 14 months and into everything!!! But three, good luck mate!

Got to consider a M5 Touring.

Well if expensive is involved…
the ultimate family car I’ve always thought:

456 estate linky

Previous series 7 or A8 barges are worth a look, v compelling when you see their prices.

I run an S-Max and am very pleased with it. I have just ordered one with he new 6 speed DSG twin clucth auto box. Easy seats 7 people and with all the back seats down I can get all my sons karting equipment in. Also tows very well, I have a box trailer for the single seater and this tows as good as my Range Rover ever did.

I have a 2.2 Diesel Manual that gives over 40mpg on a run but the new one will be a 2.0 Auto Diesel.
