I.D. Parade... Any Ideas?

I am just about ready to refit my engine after picking up all the bits from a lotus dealer who pulled it out of the car. Literally got a box of nuts and bolts from the garage.

After pre mounting all the bits whilst the motor is out of the car, gearbox, eng mounts, heatsheilds, ancillaries etc,tThere are a few bolts and bits I am not sure about. If you experienced engine transplanters could help i.d. these parts it will save time and hopefully reduce the leftover bits.

Rubber Bush, Rubber Grommet, Metal Bracket, two bolts with thick washers, metal clamp is the idle valve bracket i think. ( which has been broken during disassembly.)

Also the LH engine mount has lost the connect to the metal pipe which presumably was vulcanised in position. I guess this should be changed? see picks.

I have a house and garage full of car bits and am looking forward to getting it all together again.

Top left two large (M10)setscrews with fat washers are from the cam pulleys, bottom left M10 socket headed setscrew is from the cambelt tensioner. These have probably been renewed.

Dave

excellent start, dave, they have indeed been replaced. by your good self!

those three can go off to the nuts and bolts pot.

thank you.

Reminds me of my ‘Mecanno’ days as a kid!

i was more a technical lego kid, just pressing the lotus parts together doesn’t seem to work…

Yep the broken bracket is indeed the the IACV mounting - I use a large jubilee clip to repair this.

A new nearside (gearbox)engine mounting is required.

thanks simon, another bit for the list…

the larger metal bracket and rubber bushes are still not i.d’ed.
anyone?

bracket could be the Air con pipe support on top of the compressor? Just been in the garage to look but it’s still attached to the pipes at the local hydralic company (having new pipes made for 50 notes instead of 180+Vat from the Stealers).

Hex head bottom left looks like the manifold support bracket to black fastener!

Cheers

Simon

Bracket is definitely aircon pipe support bracket, good call.

Dave

well done! I must have a close look where that actually goes. I have finished installing everything and I still have that bracket left over. I was pretty sure it was a rogue part which had found its way into the lotus box.

That might explain why I have one long bolt and nut left over as well. It is so very tight in that area to work. It was a right juggling act to get the exhaust, compressor and alternator in position and then get them bolted in position. I cannot think there is still space for that bracket too…
