I took the roof of the S2 to ease pulling the seats out at the weekend to give it a proper clean. Now, the guy I bought it from gave me a soft top, which will be going on fleabay when I get a sec.
I was a little shocked that holes had just been drilled for the soft top bars to slot into without any inserts on the roll bar side - some folk have no pride in their work…
I want to finish the job off even though I’ll never see the holes. I’ve done a search on here and found the part number for the insert, but also seen reference to spacers. Should I fit both the spacer and insert, or is it a tolerance thing and only fit the spacer if required? If I order 1 x insert part number; do they come as a pair?
Long post for something so simple, but needed to justify question
What about using a rubber grommet to plug the hole? As you say you will not be using the soft top and once hard top is back on holes are covered up anyway. But you have the peace of mind of a neat job.
At the risk of opening myself to ridicule by admitting my penchant for open top motoring… Mr Shaggy when you do decide to part with your roof I might be interested (depending on colour).
To the hard core massive… Hope you’re all having a great day out at Angelsey!!
The ragged hole you have will not be affecting anything structural (its just a fibreglass cover)
B117B0480K is the part number for the spacer.
If all you are doing is bunging up the hole, you dont really need the spacers.
A116B0182F is the part number for the insert.
I think the part number represents a pair.
If the spacers are required I’ll fit them. I was just intrigued why they need to be fitted??? If all cars require the spacer; why isn’t the holder not just made to the correct specification. If and when I sell it will be right for the next owner just in case they like the the wind in their hair.
As said it is just the roll hoop fibreglass cover that needs cutting and the insert and spacer for the roof bars needs sticking in. The new soft tops are very good, with no more wind noise than the hardtop.
