HowFast

So who is up for doing the HowFast event at Bedford on Sat 19th July? Could be a bit of a laugh if we all get on the same session.

I know its a bit of a trek for some, so we could optionally make it into a double-header by doing either Rockingham (with Circuit Days) or Donny (with RMA) on Friday and stay over somewhere Friday night. Then head to Bedford on Sat morning for the 10am sign-on session, 11-12 practice, 12-13 timed-runs, celebratory lunch then home :sunglasses:

Sounds like a plan Ben.

never done bedford, but would still be fun

Ben - what are the noise limits on the day at Bedford? Will your cars pass?

Not wishing to be a party pooper, but you now what it’s like these days!

Looks like you use a Ariel Atom, so everyone is in the same car

You can run your own car for £99 or use one of their Atoms for £299.

Yes noise is always an issue at Bedford but if a Radical SR8 can put in a time…

I plan to do an evening trackday there next month to see how my car gets on. If I get through the static test I’m used to building up gradually. In fairness to them as you get near the limit they give you a head’s up. There’s only one meter on the West circuit where I would be normally we wide-open in 3rd at about 8000rpm - that won’t wash. Sandbagging for the meter does provide a very convenient excuse if you put in a shit time though

I’ll add that to my list!

Also the pit has a 97dbB limit, that’s decibels of Bling - you’re out Phillips.

Hmmmm we’ll have to see, my car may be a bit shouty now especially induction. Evening events are a cheap way of finding out…

I think if you took a wide line after the first hairpin and short shifted at maybe 5-6k it wouldn’t hurt your laptime that much, then coming down the back straight the West circuit sends you wide anyway so you might be able to go past that meter on the racing line at full chat.

The wind direction on the day would make a difference, though i think the prevailing wind is directed across the track towards both of those sensors.
