what price would i have to pay to get a good 1999 111s or standard s1 elise, and are they a car you can use every day(i hear they dont like wet roads!!!)i just want a fun car, that is not going to cost the earth to run…also will the nice man at the Insurace company want more cash off me if i put a stainless Ex and a KnN filter(are the cone filters much better than the pannel filter) on the car…is it wise to tell them all the mods if any.[This message has been edited by andy (edited 02 November 2001).][This message has been edited by andy (edited 03 November 2001).][This message has been edited by andy (edited 03 November 2001).]
I guess it depends on whether you want to pay dealer prices or buy privately.I’d be looking at around the 18K mark
Hi Andy,If you are looking for a S1 elise I have a standard Azure Blue one for sale, I have had it form new as it has a full Lotus main dealer (Bell & Colvill) service history. With regard to economy it is very economical +40 mpg. As for fun it is fantastic they are so light and easy to drive . I have also driven an 111-S and IMHO the standard elise is better as the 111-S is not appreciably faster and feels as if it needs a sixth gear. If you are interested in mine call me on 020-8947-1798.Nick.

I would like to buy from a dealer, but not keen on the dealer price!!!i will be on a bit of a tight budget,do most dealers give a good warrenty on the used elise’s…and it may be a silly question but is it a cheep car to keep on the road?i know that depends on how hard you drive the car but thought i would ask… quote:Originally posted by Admin5:I guess it depends on whether you want to pay dealer prices or buy privately.I’d be looking at around the 18K mark
Andy, somebody has to pay for the swish show room, and the sharp suited sales man. Then the dealer has to make a profit. IMO the dealers probably have a 2-3k mark up and you are probably best buying a good one (like mine!)privatly and even if somthing does go wrong 2-3k buys a lot of spares and repairs. Food for thought!Nick
