Hello guys, can someone please tell me how loud my car is likely to be. Its a S1 190 with sports exhaust and cat by-pass pipe. I have booked a track day and there are noise level restrictions, any ideas ? Has anyone been refused access to the track with a similiar configuration. I think the noise limit is 105 db.
I have a 190 with the std exhaust (albeit with knackered baffles) and a silenced (in theory) CRP and I’m around 104dB (probably when the baffles resonate).
If it’s Brands I understand the 105 limit is only for cars that don’t have an MOT. Which makes sense, because if you can drive it up and down outside a circuit at 105 then why is it a problem on a circuit?! I believe the MOT only stipulates a ‘reasonable’ level (as clear as a Jenson Button contract).
CRP = cat replacement pipe - usually just a straight through pipe that replaces the catalytic convertor fitted as standard to your car. A picture of one is HERE under exhaust
ITG = is a company that makes air filters and in particular a high flow one that fits the Exige and is considered by some to be better than the standard Pipercross one(s). Their website is HERE and if you do a search then there’s a good thread on here somewhere about them.
Thanks for all your help, I look forward to meeting you steve . which group will you be in ? Is there a map of elvington circuit or, even better, do you have any mpegs of the circuit (or is it different everytime, god it is only when you start asking questions you realise how little you know ) ?
Actually I will be closer to Elvington - Wistow in particular. Need more room for the toys and space to really strip my old LandRover down and do a chassis up rebuild…that’s if I don’t get a Wildcat instead!
I’ve put myself down for the advanced group…only because ofthe other cars there so far and if Jonny lays out the normal course it has a fantastic long sweeping right hander on the concrete pad that allows the exige to gobble up the other cars.
Circuit can change a little each time but don’t worry there is plenty of sighting laps first thing and its best to build the pace up slowly in the morning and then get into the groove after lunch. There shouldn’t be a problem swapping up and down groups and if things get a little quiet after lunch it may even revert to an open pitlane.
Have a few videos but haven’t mastered converting them to mpegs or uploading (Im still on a dialup connection!)
