Decided to go with the full power upgrade at EA… chargecooler / manifold / decat / injectors / pump etc. EA recomend the 2.9 pulley…what can I go to and still be “safe” - I’m thinking the 2.8 should be OK…Ade ?
Thanks Matt

If you are tracking it, do not go below 2.9" in my opinion, my engine is getting tired already, I have been running the 2.9 for about 3 years with about 10k miles on the road and 5k on track, on the road you might be ok with a 2.8" but it will only decrease the gearbox life even faster, you could start considering gearboxes as consumable, i nearly did, but then I realised the amount of track time I would lose each time it failed.
make sense? probably not
3.1" here
A good rule of thumb is 10hp per 0.1" smaller, it does seem to vary, but you get the idea
Thanks Ade - I’m having the Jubu 3/4 gears fitted also as a preemptive strike…given that would you go to 2.8 ?..remember I want to keep up with the proverbial 911 GT3!

Ade…on the gearbox, given I’m having the 3/4 Jubu’s fitted do you think I also need a gearbox oil cooler fitted or will I get by without - car is mainly for track but only a handful of days each year and then typically only say 20 minute stints…?
thanks

Absolutely, I measured the temperature of my casing on a cool trackday and it was hotter than the max working temp of the oil in the gearbox, on that basis yes. It would seem counter productive not to fit it while it is apart for what will be a small amount of cash, I would suggest the same as me a laminova based one done by JSR
I had the 2.9 and after some research and a long chat with wayne at EA went with the 2.8. I gained approx 17bhp and am now running 329bhp with so much more torque than standard it genuinely feels like a completely different engine. I certainly dont have to go anywhere near red line to get that “shove” like I used to.
If it’s chargecooled I’d go 2.8 especially as you are having the box done anyway. My 2.8 has been fitted for 6 months and no problems so far with lots of road driving.
Oh, and it’s nice to have a few more horses than the ever growing 300bhp club on here

Up to you, but you will really be pushing it, I suspect even with a 2.8" pulley you would not keep up with a GT3 along say the Kemmel straight.
A 330 bhp Exige weighing 933kg equals 353 bhp per tonne (my maths may be wrong here) which against 272 bhp per tonne for a 996 GT3 sounds promising to me. Saying all this the Exige isnt the most aero car so it would probably still get beat on a long straight. Good fun gettign there tho.
But your is a road car, there is a lot more risk running it on track, I average 180miles on track per day and most of that the rpm is between 6 and 8k you just don’t get that on a road car, I have never counted but you are on full throttle for what seems an enternity along the kemmel straight, if you fancy being a pioneer on this then go for it (makes a change from me)
Poster didn’t say if his was a track monkey or not.
I’m too precious to track mine, MY2010 car with my mods is too expensive to replace if I totalled it on track, I actually need another, older less preened one just to take to the circuit.
It’s a track car - that is also used for the occaisional longer trip - overall dosen’t get used much…
I’ll ask EA what they think…
3.2/1 would be nice to try …C,mon Dave ??
2.9" all the way then, unless you want to be a hero and try the 2.8"
