Honda engines 0-60

I made the 4.99. Couple of things, I’ve had the car longer than most other owners of Honda powered cars, so I know it’s characteristics a little better. Secondly I was on Toyo’s which are not going to give the grip of a Yoko XXX. Thirdly we were using AP22’s which need to be setup individually for the car i.e. tilt factor. This wasn’t done due to time constraints. SteveB thinks the times were conservative based on the data. He posted this on Seloc.

"Taz has just sent me my graph…interesting in that I definitely almost revved it out in 1st, 2nd and 3rd and with the revs I would have used I should be doing more speed that the graph indicates I am doing.

I changed up at ~8500, not right up to the limiter (8750) but well past 8000, almost to the limiter.

Assuming I change up at 8500 my gearing (according to Dave Andrews’ gearing.exe download available from his home page) gives me:

1st 49mph
2nd 72mph
3rd 93mph

I’ve just plugged the JDM ratios into the program (3.27, 2.13, 1.57, 1.21, 0.97, 0.78 and a diff of 4.76:1) and his rev limit which I think is 8600 and his speeds on the graph are lower than the gearing program says they will be.

That’s good news for Ian because it means he is probably still quicker."

I think now that the ranking is probably correct, but the absolute times are not. There is a full listing of the times on the above Seloc thread.

ian

you seem to be getting the hang of that speed thing ehh…

big up to ya…

My money is on the famous and much missed Mr S S

The graemlin should give you a clue

sorry to disappoint you, it was not me.

I DO NOT post anon anywhere.

As for this thread and its obvious inference, if all the other cars are so much faster, where were they?

As has been pointed out, the times are somewhat suspect, but do seem to be consistent between the cars, so if nothing else, its a comparison.

I personally made a right hash of the start, as most people did, the surface is very hard to judge at Brunty.

something to reassure you all of the Honda cars’ abilities with respect to acceleration and performance; i have in my trusty hard drive a video of a honda powered elise in NZ doing the 1/4mile in 12.32seconds. that’s with plenty of wheelspin at the start AND on each change up to 4th. How do those figures sound???

Thats a good time, but what was the terminal speed? Mines gets to 112mph at Santa Pod’s 1/4 mile strip! Thats spinning most of the time aswel!

no idea chris,
but he was gaining on a heavily worked supra at the end of it

The Audis were there, just not running in 0-60 lottery - 0-60 is the equivalent of asking olympic sprinters to play L-O-N-D-O-N spells London!!

My car will be out and about soon and then we can compare…

Nice to have you back…

Ang - the figs sound good - better than my old 213 bhp K series. At a sprint the official timing gave me a 13.24 standing quarter with a terminal speed of 101mph…

Hello Simon

what do you mean when you say this?? all what other cars ??
