Hockenheim: Exige vs. GT3 – nearly stacked it!

Caught and finally passed (I suspect when he got tired of holding me off in an attempt to uphold his pride) a GT3.

Gets a bit hairy at around the 4min 50sec mark!

>just a suggestion of a tankslapper…<

Top bit of footage, nice one mate.

Gotta admit though; even though it didnt have the best driver out there, that GT3 has got a great arse .

Awesome save by the way!

David

Nice video

He was somewhat inconsiderate, I thought

Also, surprised how narrow the track is in places.

think you need to change your name from “speedyk” to “coolhand k”. Good skills fella.

BTW. those Gt3’s have gr8 arses.

So you wouldn’t fancy doing this:

>Drift Challenge. Final 2007<

JESUs… that was a moment and a half! nicely saved though!!!

I’m not capable of doing that, even if I wanted to

Great video though

IF only you’d had some NOS for down the straights !!

I’m not capable of doing that, even if I wanted to

Here’s another bit of automotive madness the tenuous link to the current topic is the width of the track.

Now who would have the idea of driving a group B rally car on an indoor cart track? The Swiss, of course! (Necessity being the mother of invention).

>crazy<

Practicing racing starts at this Hock. racing licence course in the morning (when it was even wetter see the Yokos struggling with the standing water under braking).

Up against a VX220 Turbo and a 660kg, 300bhp Seven with me on the outside:

>ready, steady, GO!!!<

nice catch speedyk!!

gt3 driver seemed a bit of a git, total straight line hero!!.
amazing how it pulled away on the straight though

enjoyed the last couple of secs of the video where you dived down the inside

Dude your ego is writing checks even a numbered Swiss account won’t be able to cash…It seems if you had power you would have made a safe pass early on and and not have to put your ass on the line…Ego? Dude your not gettin payed or laid, so why take yourself or the other sap out ?

I’ve not taken anyone else out and what I do with my car on track is my problem. If I wanted to just go for Sunday cruises, I wouldn’t have bought an Exige Cup, but something like an F355, C6, XK8 or 500SL

“YET” and what you do on the track with others is a concern to others…It’s a shame you don’t have more power though…

what you do on the track with others is a concern to others

What are you trying to say?

I think what Frank’s trying to say is what you’ve said in the subject title…nearly stacked it.

It’s not all about getting past a GT3, it’s only a track day. What if you made an error and hit him? Would you have still shown us the video? Not trying to have a go mate but I guess he could have let you pass so it works both ways.

Besides the “vs” in the title, I don’t think the point was “getting past the GT3” - at least not in the way Frank is implying. From what I can judge he wasn’t going through that corner any quicker than on the previous round - could have been anything due to tyre/temperature - whatever. These things happen, as I’m sure just about anyone who has driven close to the limit on track can admit. Better there than on a public road, indeed.

In none of the 6 minutes and 33 seconds was there any point where his error could have seriously implicated another driver. Getting close to the limit of the car is better done on track as was done in this case, then on public roads.

Having said that, absolutely awesome driving there SpeedyK.

He would have been blacked flaged here for that type of driving…The proper thing to do would be to pull into the hot pit lane wait ten seconds and then go back out…No “road hoging Gt3” to deal with then…but isn’t it all about Ego to try and pass the Gt3… he “let” you bye

It is a little dangerous to pronounce to all the world on situations without being in full possession of the facts!

A couple of points:

  1. This was not a track day. It was the final part of an advanced driving course and to qualify for a national racing licence.

  2. This was filmed on the final afternoon, which was a voluntary (as in, if you didn’t feel ready, you didn’t have to do it) free training session where the encouragement was to practice what you had learned!

Where I would agree is that the GT3 did let me by probably because he got tired of struggling to hold me off at a pace that he wasn’t really that comfortable with.

But I’m sure others will be ready to offer their own interpretations

Do they teach heel and toe???
