Chaps,
I really don’t know whether this is of interest, but there was an historic F1 race supporting the Canadian GP. I’ve got loads more photos if anyone would like to see them.
On the basis that I am about 2 years behind with writing everything up, I thought it worthwhile uploading an album of glorious F1 cars from the 3.0L era 1966-1985. They had a race on the Saturday of the Canadian GP and made for a wonderful spectacle, none more so than the sonorous ex-Gilles Villeneuve Ferrari 312 T5. While nobody could drive it like Gilles, just to see it around the eponymous circuit, the driver wearing a replica helmet, was enough to put a lump in ones throat. Fabulous stuff. In the end it was a Williams wash-out with a one-two-three after the Brabham BT44 which set the pace in qualifying failed to make the start. Still, whatever the result it remains a monumental pleasure to see Grand Prix cars at speed around a circuit they raced on in period.
