Hi guys and gals. Im new here. Currently I am looking into buying an exige to add to my 220bhp MR-S GT300. I would like to buy an S1 so I am reading as much as I can about them before buying one. Since here in my country there are no exiges available (only 2 elise s1’s I think) I would have to get one from the UK. So thought I would say hi!!
Having recently driven in Malta - I reckon an Exige is about the worst car you could get. The best road there is contructed of repair on top of repair, plus limited visability in the vehicle and in a country where there is barely any road rules. Don’t know if its a good idea… You need a hummer, not a lotus!!
…in a country where there is barely any road rules…
There are three rules:
- The Brits drive on the left
- The Italians and drive on the right
- The Maltese drive in the shade
well for a laugh visit http://onlyinmalta.com/ and go to the gallery section for some crazy stuff.
Hi CIN and welcome , I wanted to visit Malta in May with my Exige. Please e-mail me so we could meet sometime?
Hi Jacks, is it really that bad? I have doubts now if I should visit Malta with my Exige…
testdriver - yes it really is that bad, worse even. The drivers there are among the worst in the world as are the roads. We came around a corner on our scooter and nearly got run over by two guys street racing with horses and little buggies getting towed behind them.
Plus the speed limit there is 60km/ph maximum, although this is rarely policed… I can’t imagine trying to park an exige there - its all bad dude. Don’t do it unless you have a desire to wreck your car.

Hi
I think you are too harsh. Im sorry you had a bad experience here in Malta(Im actually on the sister island Gozo). I know that sometimes turists complain about the bad driving habits of some drivers but I can assure you it is no worse than driving in scicily or in Italy. Iv been there and it is on the same level. Mabye it is you guys up north who are calm.
Anyway. I continue to search for my Exige and look forward to make part of the Lotus experience.
Joseph
Hi Joseph,
My family lives in Xewkija, Gozo, it is a country that I love very much. The drivers and roads on Gozo are better than Malta however by European, American or Australian standards they are 3rd world.
Seriously though, an exige is not a car for Malta. An elise? Maybe…

Hi
Really from Xewkija? Can you tell me their names or better yet their nickname? Im from Xaghra. Maybe I know them? I know what you mean but I can live up with hard suspension and raw cars. Im fairly sure that if I tune the suspension well it will be ok at least until the roads here are ready. I would like to travel with it to europe maybe for a track day or two. This will by no means be my only car
Joseph, can you please contact me [email protected] thanks
