Help - What is causing this noise ?

Just noticed this yesterday.

When I sit down in my Elise, I hear a wierd sound coming from the rear which I suppose might be the suspension?

It sounds like if the car was groaning, and it only happens when I sit down or sit up.
If I go behind the car and push it down you can also hear it.

What can it be, toelinks? Balljoints? Or the hlins that need rebuilding?
The car has run about 19k km.

I have a track day planned this weekend, and I am now a bit worried that it might be something serious.

Hope someone can help. Cheers

Wishbone bushes or dampers, in that order would be my guess.

Nylatron bushes…if you have them

Thanks for your replies guys, is this something I need to get replaced before the trackday or can it wait til after? I’m afraid, it’s going to be difficult (read impossible) to get an appointement at my local Lotus garage before the weekend.
But if it is a serious problem, aka something that could break…then I better cancel the track day. Better be safe than sorry right ?
again thanks for your help! appreciate it!

No you should be fine. A good check to do before all of your track days is to jack up each corner and check for any free play or movement, both up and down, side to side and back and forth, by simply grabbing the jacked up wheel and giving it a wobble. If you do have any movement, then you should get it looked at, if not, then crack straight on!!

Thanks Sean, that sounds reassuring ! I was already suspecting the worst. I’ll jack the car up tomorrow and give it a check.
