Not that we’ve had much sun of late, but when my Exige gets hot the dam hardtop starts to squeak when driving the car? Has anyone else had the same problem, can you help?
Graham.

A bit of a TADTS really. Check the fixings securing the rear of the roof. HTH.
Or just take it off…
TADTS?
They All Do That Sir .
David
TADTS?
They all do that sir.
As said above, check the fittings are secure, then drive it a bit harder so you can’t hear the squeak
Thanks, i’ll do my best.
Mine did this when i first got it, it drove me mad,
i took it to my dealer who sorted it, they found where it was rubbing and fitted a smal bit of tape/packer and it has not done it since, dealer said they had done loads of them.
Thanks Phil. Can you remember where they fitted the packer?

I will take some piccys when i get chance tomorrow,
Tims right though i got it Sorted at F1 in Newcastle
It should be easy to fix. Take the hard top off, then take the rear mounting bracket off with an allen key. Becare not to drop any spacer behind the bracket as you undo the bolt.
You’ll see the two pieces of fibre glass that are rubbing together. Infact you can make them squeek just by leaning on the area. I tried to cure the squeek by just tightening up the bracket, but it soon came back.
Some insulation tape between the two pieces of body work might do the trick, or even a little touch of grease ?!
Pick a nice day and try the car without the roof, but dont tell Pesky !
Thanks for all the advice. Will take the roof off first chance.
definitely a case of TADTS
definitely fixable with generous application of insulation tape etc
dealer/warranty fix if still applicable
Loosening the roof fixings at the rear rather than tightening seems to fix it, don’t worry it ain’t gonna fall off!
I thought while fixing the roof squeak I would take the opportunity to go for a drive with the roof off.

But you didn’t have the guts to see if it would float…
