Help please - Sky Broadband

My Sky router got fried during a recent power cut/surge. I’ve bought a Netgear N600 router, but the bloody thing won’t connect to the Sky ADSL broadband. I can get as far as the questions “ISP username & password” but whatever I enter here is rejected.

Should I have bought a new Sky Hub instead?

No should work but if you don’t know the Sky userid and password you need to call them.

You are within your rights to use any router you want on their service so they should support you in getting online.

Sky routers have an internal userid/passwd that they don’t share with you. With some creative googling you will find ways of yielding it.

Despite what Damon says, your T&C’s say different,…sorry bud.

I’d save yourself some ballache and just phone Sky and get them to ship you a new one. If you have any problems let me know.

Thanks chaps - I’ll continue to try for another day or so…

Very many thanks Tim - brill :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Ooh, that’s interesting. It feels a bit dangerous just reading it. Like the Official Secrets Act.

I’ve a duty to report you all to the Sky Police for flagrant breach of T&C’s

wooo woooo

Ben, thanks for voice message. I’ve been having a bad device day, & just spent 2 hours sorting my bloody phone out! Had to visit an O2shop to learn that a software update download was probably required - seems to have sorted it.

Please give me a ring when Cops are leaving Murdoch Towers & I’ll put the kettle on

I’m with Sky for BB and had one their standard routers die on me, well outside of any warranty. I just called them up expecting to buy another from them, and they dispatched it overnight - f.o.c. Can’t even remember if they asked for the old one back. Very good service which was a pleasant surprise!

Would hope so for £200-300/year with significant profit margin.

Apols Benja, I fell out with Sky BB after a protracted episode of loss of service. Back with BT direct as you can get to the source of the problem as to be fair to Sky they rely on BT for fault rectification. It wasn’t the fault more the management of the problem that led to my cancelation.

Given you’re having phone trouble too, I reckon you’ve hacked.Murdoch’s minions already on the way.

He’s gonna deal with you himself Rob, he’s taken it very personally.

It’s not me who’s pi$$ed him off…it’s a certain ex Prime Minister
