Wowzers!! everyone ok I hope?
did that really clear the fencing and end up in the car park?
Some more footage here: Aftermath pics at the end, even though the initial part of vid isn’t as good as the former post.

That is a bad one!
From what I’ve read elsewhere, one driver walked away, one hospitalised with leg injuries and no marshalls or spectators were hurt.
From PH from somebody that was there:
"There was a 1 hour+ radio / commentary silence during the extraction, after which it was announced that the driver (Bogatov) had been taken to hospital by road (ie not needing the Air Ambulance which had arrived by then) and that racing would resume.
Chapman got out unaided and walked away, from what I could see."
There was some comment about broken leg(s), as well as these drivers having some history.
Nasty business.
Thanks for the update Steve - says a lot for modern safety applications to protect drivers!
PS Catch fence design would appear to need some serious re-appraisal though!!!
Jesus!!!
Shocking!
Glad they’re both well.
wow truely horrific
My little incident at Vale on the 1st lap at Silverstone pales into insignificance against this
Pleased to hear they were both ok (ish), could have been so much worse…
Looking at it I dont think the fence was the problem Rob, looks more like the barrier at fault as it deformed and turned into a ramp!!
Brands has featured too many nasty incidents in the past 18 months. That’s two cars vaulting the fence in as many seasons. Is the circuit to blame or driving standards?
Probably not as bad as it looked from a driver safety point of view… the cars generally tumbled and didn’t hit anything too solid that stopped them in their tracks.
Being the owner of the one of the aforementioned chariots of the rising sun its a wonder the Earths orbit wasnt affected!
The boot lid on mine weighs more than Wales!!!
Quite right but from a spectator safety point of view, that is frightening. There could easily have been a crowd there…Le Mans '55 springs to mind.

I watched that on BBC iplayer
Me and Tap have both stood there on many occasions. It was quite typical for one of us to stand there for the start and then walk down Paddock Hill. I’m glad in some ways that I’ve knocked the motorsport photography on the head for now. You stand there to get shots like this :
Yes that’s Gav in his initial livery.
Blimey… forgot what the old gal looked like…
Thats been 3 yrs ago!!
