Heater Matrix Removal

I don’t need a heater, as I only run my car on track in the summer.

While I could remove the matrix and connect the supply/return pipes together, I’d just assume blank it out in the engine compartment.

The tricky bit is the return pipe - it is a Y-like hard pipe merging the radiator return and heater return right at the thermostat - a complicated little piece of hardware.

340R’s did not have heaters. What did 340R’s and the AutobyTel cars do? The 340R Service Notes section doesn’t say much.

I saw the part number in the MSport parts manual - radiator return pipe part #A111E6229S, does anyone know if that is a radiator return pipe, sans heater return port?

Thanks

Are you talking about the right hand side (viewed from the back of the car) ?

I simply plugged mine (the small pipe that feeds the heater) when I removed the heater matrix.

The 340Rs just had a blanking plug in the branch of the hose that goes to the heater.

Stolen from Paul’s thread on SELOC:

The answer is “just plug it and shut-up.” Great with me.

Fantastic Esprit - thanks for digging up the pic.

I recognise that picture

I bought the plug from fleabay as lotus have kindly made them obsolete. LINK → http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270681507117

But it did take around 2weeks to arrive :frowning:
