I’m sure this has been done before, but are there any better bulbs for the main beam on the S2?
Main beam is fairly rubbish
Reccomendations appreciated
All I will say is that halfrauds “90% better” bulbs are 90% better than sh*t. I think a HID upgrade is the only way to go.

Will give the HID a miss though as I don’t drive it in the dark very often at all.
I was shocked how bad mine were the first time I drove it at night. A combination of the official Lotus bulb upgrade kit (Osram?) and adjusting the beams slightly higher (maybe not entirely legal) has been good enough for me. I’m quite satisfied with my lights now.
I couldn’t believe how bad the lights were when I first drove the car a night so the very first upgrade I did was to fit main and dip bean HID. A huge improvement but given the lights are set so low, even with the HID setup, dip beam is still a challenge for quick cross country progress. If I was doing it again I’d probably just go for the uprated bulbs…

My headlights seem pretty good, not Bi-xenon good but ok and certainly not poor.
The beams have a slight blue/purple tinge to the edge - does this indicate that the OE bulbs may have been changed before I bought it? (Not desperate enough to know to start pulling bulbs out )

Nope… I got the tip off here where some of the other S1 guys had been running them for a while.
Have to say mine didn’t get extended usage with them in before I went down the ‘racecar’ route with it, but I don’t think anyone else had problems with them.
