Headlight Covers

Anyone got any experience of the headlight covers that pop up on ebay every now and again.

Apparently they do them in a 1mm or 2mm lens thickness.

Just want to know if anyone has tried them, or are they complete poo.

Cheers

There has been good feedback on SELOC regarding these including the 1mm thick ones,
I wouldnt waste money on the specific sealing tape they or Elise parts try to sell you “Homelux Bathseal Adhesive (L2m)” from B & Q does the job @ 2.98 and one roll’s enough for both Headlamps
If you just sit the roll off sealant somewhere warm for a wee while it makes it much easier to apply and you dont need to warm up the headlamp surround to get it to stick ~also comes off if you need it to unlike sikaflex or the like

Yep, I’ve fitted quite a few sets and very pleased with them.

For an S1 Exige, you’ll need the 2mm version.

Also, as above, use the bath seal tape, available from either Wickes or B&Q.

I just removed and reglued mine a couple of months back (due to some water ingress I wanted to sort). Found that the cover isn’t a perfect fit to the bodywork Have you guys found the same? I used black silicone bath sealant to reglue, but had to load it up at the bottom to seal it.

Doesn’t the poor fit make it difficult using tape then???

I need to remove mine again as there’s still water ingress

Anyhow, when Exigy came into my life, it was for better and for worse…

The bath seal tape is what you need, it’s like a very sticky blue tack rather than an actual tape so fills gaps

Simply the only good solution to fitting the covers

Any chance you could provide the ‘part number!’ on the B&Q homelux please! There seems to be a large selection of homelux different tapes/sealants in my B&Q store and I have already got the wrong one!

Many thanks!

No part number on the box that I can see.

It’s a blue white box with the wording HOMELUX Bath Seal Adhesive.

H9302001 is printed below the bar code on the pack I have here

The Wickes version is the same but branded Wickes, no doubt identical inside

Open the box and you’ll see black, blue tack style stuff on a roll.

Hope this helps

Many thx Will,

Pete.
