As I only drive the Exige occasionally …when the weather is nice as it is today , it has struck me that most nice weather days seem to have an abundance of Police camera vans perched on the side of the main arterial routes.
They must hope that the nice weather brings out untaxed vehicles and gives them a break from doing productive work.
They have not yet cottoned on that the majority of illegally used vehicles are used for local journeys to and from the crack houses… Well at least around here they are !!
Much easier than catching criminals I would imagine ??
i would imagine its because of exactly the reason you stated, nice day = nice car’s and folk using them potentially committing the criminal offence of exceeding the speed limit. whilst i agree there time could be better employed catching scum bag criminals as you list, we also have the choice not to exceed the speed limits??
just a different slant on it !

I would say it’s more due to the fact of trying to catch untaxed / uninsured cars … As I stated Re- crack house !!
And you never exceed the speed limits I presume ??
Even worse is the driver who goes too slow forcing people to overtake.
Ps without cruise control on ALL of the time there is No-one on the planet able to achieve 100 % accuracy… Ask any pilot why planes use auto pilot ?
There are better ways for Police to spend our hard - earned taxes …
lol, i expected a bit of a flaming, so thats not too bad.
i agree wholeheartedly that pretty much everyone exceeds the speed limits at times, my home is near derbyshire/staffordshire border, and they have conflicting approaches to speed. darb’s have changed many of the derestricted roads to 50 and have lots of signs about “its 50 for a reason” and “kill your speed” etc. yet as the stretch of road with same tarmac, conditions, traffic etc, moves into staffs it reverts to 60 ??!! go figure.
it will be intresting to see what happens when loads of the local authority run static speed cameras get turned off due to lack of funding(70 in oxfordshire already gone), will the police mobile ones increase do you reckon??
my father was a traffic cop and to see him some nights after scrapping bits of people of the road due to speeding/reckless/drink driving and having to tell families there sons/daughter/husbands/wives etc wont becoming home was tough. i was just commenting that speeding is a criminal offence and therefore fare game for law enforcment, however much we dont like it…still rather they spent the time photoing the owners that let there dogs crap all over the place, now that really is a criminal offence

i would imagine they would throw the book at you if you got caught- and it may not be difficult to track you down given how rare the Exige is… [/quote]
You can’t get points for it, just a small fine.
If you’ve got it in the footwell “it fell off this morning, honest”.
I’ve only been stopped once for not having a front plate and was let off.
According to a recent survey by the Transport Research Laboratory, excessive speed is only a factor in 7.3% of road deaths.
As a qualified advanced driver, I’d rather see more money put into driver training rather than enforcement. With better quality drivers, who drive to the road conditions and are more aware of what’s going on around them, I think this would prove more effective than a poor standard L test and then enforcement.
Personally speaking I prefer eduction rather than punishment when it comes to improving driving safety and standards.

Couldn’t agree more
