Harness fixings

Im looking at buying a harness because am going to be doing a fair bit of track daying… just looking through techwiki and i cant really tell where the fixings are that u bolt the waist to and how easy is it to fit the rap around harness to the bar? is there any checks that need to be done before hand?

to retain the 3-point seatbelt buy the longer bolt fixing kit from MSAR

Fitting is fiddly…do a search I ran a thread a 18 months ago.

cheers damon

The waist ones fit to the same bolt in the side of the seat as the one that holds the 3 point belt to. Presumably there is provision in the seats for a bolt in both sides as the seats aren’t handed for driver/pax.
If you don’t want to cut holes in your plastic panel behind the seats to thread a bar through there are bars that bolt to the oe seat belt mounts but they can reduce how much the seat goes back and may interfere with the speakers.
Do your seats have holes in for the shoulder harness routing?

Ash I bought my harness bar (bolted to the roll bar), Luke harness and pads x2 (well comfy) from Hanger 111. Roof off, seats out and rear plastic panel out and cut. Easy peasy. If you need one cut (keep yours for resale), you can have mine as it’s no longer in anyway.

ive already got the harness bar in and i have the exige seats with the holes out of the seat… just finding out on where to bolt the side harnesses too i think the luke harness is the all round favourite at the moment… other question i just had is helmet… which one do u all prefer full helmet or open face? im unsure what to go for… am looking for a fia or MSA approved as all the tracks are going towards them for trackdays now… any help will be great… thanks

I have a full face Arai GP-5S but in retrospect should maybe have gone for an open face…gets a little too warm inside our cars on track. I usually end up with the window open!

ok thats good… omp have some good ones on ebay that i was looking at and msar-safety have some harnesses

contemplationg on gettin one of them

Pesky and I have this…

Meets the emerging regs for trackdays and GVFM IMO

I’d go for a full face as you never know when your going to be offered a pax ride in something interesting. If it gets hot I turn the aircon on as it’s supposed to cut out under hard acceleration so doesn’t seem to slow the car down much.
