Seeing as there has been a large influx of newbies here, I thought you might like to settle ing with some easyto follow guideline on how to get by on here. Please feel free to use any of the acronyms as described.
AFR = Too much at 13 or more, possibly giving a short term gain, supported by a large diagram drooping towards the end. 12 is the more accepted measure. Related to Pulley below. Beloved by Americans.
PMSL = A forum stability programme, used to diffuse heater banter
ROFLMAO = Ade has broken another gearbox
EFA = A bit like the classic race car ERA, only a more modern interpretation whereby the car in question has been ruined by modding. See FORGE.
NA ROCKS = A type of fundamentalist mantra. A Chant which when repeated often enough can get you a place on the top poster board.
FORGE = A forgery. An impostor. Something that claims to be something it isnt. An inferior product. And Expensive.
MMC = The original S1 Elise brake disc. The distant sound of owners of unmodded cars as another cooked modded car is towed away.
PULLEY = An unusual admission by men on this forum. Usually measured as 3.1 inches being too much, especially as you approach the back straight and you wish you only had one measuring 2.9 inches or so. A type of perverse talent enhancer particular to those of an S2 persuasion.
WRAP = A pikey mod, beloved of the Max Power brigade. Adds weight for no benefit. Something that should only be removed from a new OEM part.
BILLIES = See for sale section. Posted by a type of goat that like sheep, will follow any aftermarket trend other than OEM. See below
NITRONS = See OEM
BOOTHY = A poster of renown. A type of residence, more of a duplex than truly FLAT. See below.
OHLINS = OEM. Understated but usually over specified. Unlike AFR & PULLEY, a bigger measurement is considered preferable by shed builders everywhere.
AIR CON = A mythical object (S1). A god send (S2) unless your are a top poster or are keeping the car. For ever.
OEM = Seldom seen here due to the number of pikey alternatives. See FORGE, NITRON, WRAP.
WTF = Pardon? Come again? Distantly related to C8UER, below
DYNO = A way to ruin you engine without enjoyment* (see map). A colour favoured by a top poster, so failing eyesight still permits the car to be found after parking.
MIL = The modders friend. A soft light that glows all the way home after a track day, to remind the driver of the talent enhancements used to avoid embarrassment with laptimes.
MAP = Something to measure your PULLEY or AFR with. Usually involves a DYNO* Usually leads to banter and confusion. See PMSL
SOFT TOP = The brain of an S2 owner who has a fondness for fresh air on the move. Oddly unrelated to AIR CON
C8UER = Related to PMSL but only when the system fails and you disappear into the bushes
FLAT = A small (but significant) residence, about the size of the space between the foot well carpet and the accelerator. Related to BOOTHY.
