just got a bunch of questions… been in the car scene out here in the west and have always loved the exige since the s1, never thought they would bring it to the states but alas it has…
and im ready to race.
questions -
do they make LHD s1 exiges for anyother market than america?
is the S1 frame (aluminum sturcture) the same as the s2?
is 6’2" to tall for the cabin?
is there any carbon fiber body panels out yet?
ill have a bunch more when i get more into your forums and threads, but this is a start, glad to be here!!

There are a few floating round Europe - Germany for example
No, the frame is different on the S2 - lower side sills, different rear subframe, though similar principle.
No - much taller people use exiges
There are Carbon fibre clams for the S2 available from a Hong Kong manufacturer and fro the S2 elise from Sector 111 in the US.
Oh and the bloke who owns the CF V6 exige is a Malaysian with connections to Proton who own lotus. At least as far as I remember. No, he doesn’t post hear AFAIK.
it seems though i can get an s2 for about the same price here… i cant read german, so im probably missing all the mods that he has on there. does the differences in the frames between the two really make a difference in track use?
As Shangani said, the differences in the chassis are:
They’ve cut the sills a little lower, and bonded in some additional extrusions to maintain the stiffness. Probably adds a little weight, but nothing to worry about.
Makes bugger all difference to the driving experience, just makes it a little easier to get in and out. Especially if you have a helmet on.
Rear subframe is different to accomodate the Toyota engine. Makes a difference on track in that you have a different engine!
Choosing between S1 and S2 for pure track use is getting complicated.
The S1 is lighter, and has more tuning options available at the moment.
The S2 is much better developed for road use, but that compromises its track ability slightly. It does have better suspension, but with the Toyota engine it will be hard to get the weight as low as an S1.
The standard Rover engine in the S1 can be a lot of trouble, and parts availability is a little variable since it’s out of production. This is why a lot of people are moving to Honda engines, but this may not be possible if you’re racing, depending on the rules.
The number of tuning options for the S2 is growing rapidly, and with factory cars now coming with a supercharger as standard, they might make an ideal starting point for a race car. Again, a lot depends on the regulations for whatever race series you’re considering.
is that honda engine the k-series thread??? tuning ability is what i am aiming for… but if you can tune the s2 down to the wieght of an s1 is it worth the “newer” car? is the engine all the problem in the s2? and are people putting honda engines in there?
in racing series, i was mainly looking for open class or unlimited scca here… but do must ciruit just follow the 2.0L with turbo, or 3.0L v6 na?? like wrc
If you could get an S2 down to the same weight as an S1, there’s not going to be much in it. The S2 has half the downforce of the S1, but it’s much better in terms of drag. Of course if you start adding big wings, that could all change. I guess the S2 is the better aerodynamic starting point for a racing car. It also has better suspsension so maybe the S2 is the better car if you take engine/weight considerations out of the equation.
I’m not aware of anybody having replaced at Toyota engine with a Honda yet. There are no kits available to suit the Toyota version of the chassis. If you really wanted this combination, Maidstone Sportscars have fitted a Honda in a S2 Elise (Rover model), and replaced the body with Exige panels.
