Getting proper pissed off with how shit my car is

So I buy a 260 Cup which cost 50K and so far I’ve had to change/replace/upgrade the following to allow track use

  1. Brakes - changed fluid from new (cause the original was crap), changed pads after 4k and now need to change discs after 7k
2)Suspension - changed because the springs were too soft and the 2010 MY cars couldn’t be lowered enough for real track use
  2. Oil - gearbox and engine changed due to being crap
  3. Gear cables - looks like I need new ones as the standard production car ones are crap
  4. Gearbox - looks like I’ll need to change 3rd gear before it gives up and maybe fit an oil cooler
  5. Seat runner - original one rocked and rattled so bought a Lotus fixed seat runner that took 7 months to get and didn’t have enough holes to get an acceptable driving position

Still think the car’s brilliant though

:astonished: and it’s White you big gay tosser

1)your discs lasted 7k? (must be driving like a girl  )
2)you’ll need a better roll bar as well
3)can’t argue with that
4)mine are still fine after 24k (your just fussy  )
5)if it’s not broken leave it alone
6)your obviously just an odd shape

now stop whinging and get on with driving it, 2 weeks till Spa

you are right about the brake fluid only did one track day @ Spa and had to change fluid on return to UK

still an excellent car and a big smile every time we drive it!

So a massive thank you to Lotus from me for making cars that need to be modified-----LOL
MORE UPGRADE PARTS ANYONE???

Thanks for getting the tyres to me quickly Dave

Maybe you should have bought a real “race car” but you bought a “sports car” instead.

Great basic cars but most of the components they use are crap.

I suppose if they made them properly they would cost 75k and no one would buy them.

Still, I love mine

I dig mine after all most of it is mine with a hint of Lotus essence…

and that’s the truth

I don’t really understand this - why can’t they be lowered, what is different about them?

The other thing is that you can’t lower the S2’s more then around 20mm without serious affecting the handling due to the wishbone angles etc…and of course smashing your headlights to pieces if you are getting on with the job whilst on track.

You should see what you headlights are like on a fast down hill hairpin

Even with Motorsport anti roll bar and stiffer suspension.

I had mine raised after the tyres said hello to mr headlight.
Despite this , still got the tell tale rub on Paddock Hill bend last week - love it.

For some reason the 2010 model cars cannot get as low as the pre MY cars.

My factory Ohlins were right on the spring platforms and couldn’t get the car lower than 125mm on the front hense I moved to Nitron’s

I have heard that too, is it to do with the pre set arms and geometry?

I think so - I also heard something about the 2010 MY cars struggling to pass the SVA test on headlight height so Lotus jacked up the front to pass.

When I collected my car the front ride height was 143mm and the rear 140mm

Like I said - ‘shit’

I remember i read somewhere that if you need to lower that 125mm then the upright will also need to be changed to other version…i think i read it on eliseparts website somewhere before

Yup - that’s why JSR machined my uprights

Managed 115 Fr and 120 Rear ride heights now

Same experience here.

Stock Discs, Pads and Brake Fluid lasted all of 2 laps at Bedford before I got brake fade. All those got uprated.

Suspension I thought was too rock hard for road use so uprated to adjustable Nitrons which turned out to kick ass on track.

Stock Exhaust was muted so upgrade to Larini then 2Bular.

Stock toe links had play so had to uprate those.

Stock engine was gutless so had to uprate that with a supercharger.

Stock airbox was too restrictive so had to uprate that.

Stock engine mounts failed so had to uprate those.

Stock wheels were too heavy so had to uprate to lightweight wheels.

Stock battery died so had to uprate to that.

Ended up with a cracking car but I’d hate to imagine how much I’d spent.

Dudes when I think about all the money I spent on my car to get it where it is now I look around and there still isn’t a car that can touch it on the road for same amount…seriously stupid money for a rocket pig.
