I am sure someone knows the answer to this. S1 Exige with the normal non functioning aircon. When I drive in the cold, with the heating on, there is always a blast of freezing air around my legs, heater is working fine. I think it is leak to the outside world rather than coming from the heater. Can anyone suggest where the gaffa tape is needed?
Velcro an old number plate (cut to size) over the" multi-holed sections" in the footwells.
Have seen a few where there has been just duct tape, gaffa tape, insert you personal preference of tape here tape over the holes. At least if it comes off you don’t have a lump of number plate floating around the cabin under your feet while driving.
Safety first!!
John
No problem with number plate solution if you use velcro (or get a professional, like me, to fit them!!!). Never had any issues whatsoever in over 12 years using the car in all weathers & temperatures - in fact it’s quite a struggle to occasionally remove them when cleaning the footwells.
Never found it to be a problem… Where does the number plate go, Mr P?
Under your feet whilst driving!
Seriously Steve, near the bottom of the bulkhead where it meets the floor. If you can’t see the numerous holes, perhaps yours are already covered (& hence why you don’t get the icy blast!).
Bet there a hell of a draught from those 2 big holes in the passenger foot well
WTF I have done!
I thought it would be those vents. They never needed blocking on my S1 a Elise. What should they be for? Letting the water out in floods?
They’re part of the system that creates a low pressure in the cabin to draw fumes through from the engine bay
Since I fitted the a emerald ecu my car died not smell at all! Mind you, it cannot pull the skin of a rice pudding either. Mapping session coming up…
Already had black gaffer tape ‘fitted’ on mine by the previous owner. Should’ve been a factory option! Think my first upgrade is going to be to swap it out for some silver duct tape for a better colour match though
Is that an OMP Trecento steering wheel on yours in that photo, Pesky? Looks nice, I’ll be fitting a removable boss kit on mine but still undecided on which wheel to go for. (Sorry for thread drift.)
Deggles - it was an OMP Tricento at the time, but now changed to a Sparco 300 (it has a wider girth!!! LOL).
Thanks, will check out the Sparco as well.
Big up for the Sparco here also
