I seemed to have ignored this forum since the car went. Time for an update.
Given the long and continuous brake issues I experienced with the Cup 240 Exige, the car was rejected and Lotus agreed to give me my money back.
Went out and bought this:

A Caterham R400 race car that’s been SVA’d and is road legal. Straight off the head gasket went, and with the other work I wanted to do (Fuel tank, air box & Stack unit), I’ve only just got it back. It’s changed abit since this photo, will have to get round to posting some more.
1 trackday later and all is well. It goes well to say the least, and more importantly stops when i want it to… Quicker then the Cup 240 (0-80ish I would say) although top end obviously isn’t as fast.
Still a few issues to sort. The ECM still has the race map so some rolling road time is needed. The HGF included a badly pitted head that was welded and skimmed by Minister. The result is a higher compression ratio and way to much fueling for useable road use.
Overall, things have turned out well. This is far better suited for the use I intend to put it to (trackdays), although the loss of everyday usability is the pain that goes with it.
Only other thing that really pi55ed me off was that Lotus have now conceded that the brakes werent up to the job with the introduction of the new GT Special Edition and its up rated brakes with the 243hp model.
