Geary's gear change

Just got the car back from its latest mod - the “gearbox end” gear change upgrade. You get a bag of bits which replace the cable end bushes and other bits capable of slopping about - It is available from eliseparts (no connection) at around 67 inc, plus fitting - and I can say it is well worth it. There is now zero slop in the change, as they say “like a rifle bolt” - it is the same difference again from the short shift upgrade, but much cheaper. It was developed by Geary and Simon Scuffham, who sprints/races - Go for it, you will be impressed. [This message has been edited by RussT (edited 08 July 2002).]

Dear Mr Guinea PigThat plus rear toe-link kit (again from Geary), are next on my shopping list - sod the expense, who needs a family holiday anyway? [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]

Will he do discount for bulk orders?

I assume this is the suspension mod you were raving about recently.I do get the picture of you and Russ fishing through Geary’s parts bin like I use to try maximise my pocket money on penny chews from the sweet shop! Ian, I was looking at the fact that I might not need the cables on my car at some point in the future, [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image] so I did not want to “go mad”, so cost was the issue.Peskmeister - you are better at negotiating than me, so go for it…

RussTI have a bag of Geary’s “bits” on my dining room table along with his short shift stick- good to know that its gonna be worth it !!Read the instructions ( thats a first ) and its seems straightforward - biggest problem is getting the back up up far enough ooh er …

Miniman, I entrusted the work to someone else, but if you are doing this yourself, this might help:- http://www.british-cars.co.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=lotusbbs&mode=thread&access=&subject=2050&source=T&thread=2002062120132728734

Cheers Russ !Wow ! I love this information sharing thing [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/cool.gif[/image]Andrew

I’ve had my kit fitted for just over a week now. As you may have seen on british-cars.co.uk I’ve had a slight problem with excessively tight bushes on the bell crank. It has loosened up considerably over the past week, and I’m beginning to really appreciate the difference.Geary is sending me some replacement bushes tomorrow, isn’t it nice to get quality service every now and again?I really took my time fitting the kit and I’m a complete numpty at this kind of thing, but I did it myself in about 3 hours total.I would definately recommend this kit. Judging by the comments I’ve read in a couple of magazines, I reckon a certain Mr. Brown might want to consider this upgrade.

yep, I can higly recommend it as wellcheers,Bruno

I tested the kit for Geary, and its SO easy to install. Change is far better now.Just need to convince David that he wants the same upgrade [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] Bri
