gearbox oil etc

have done a search and found not a lot
i ma going to fit my ap clutch and new box this saturday just need to know the grade of box oil to use and rough quantity
also anything to watch out for when removeing box in situ
any hint or tip gratfully accepted
cheers mike

The gearbox oil is 75W-90 grade and typically when things come in 1 litre bottles you’ll need 2.1 litres for a refill or 2.4 if it’s dry fill. It needs to be API GL4 and not GL5 if possible too.

As for removing the 'box in situ it can help to remove the LHS engine mount/slave cylinder bracket so that the engine and 'box can be angled straight down. Disconnect everything that you dare to as it’s not impossible for an engine to slip off the jack as you wrestle the 'box off and take your wiring, coolant and all sorts else with it.

cheers for that

Service Manual states Texaco MTF94.
