I am thinking about adding some extra gauges so I can better see that everything is ok. Has anyone fitted some to an “S” or NA and got pictures? Also any recommendations for what to get for Oil Temp, AFR, Boost Pressure and Air Temp?
Not that I am nervous at all I just want something to watch when driving around in our speed camera rich country
You could get a Race Technology Dash2 set up with an ECU interface and junk the Lotus dash completely. They’re doing a deal for a dash and a data logger for a grand + drat just now.
All the parameters you mention may already be running on the CAN anyway so it seams a bit superfluous fitting extra sensors? Alternatively use the Dash 1 for 350 and just extract the extra data you want?
I must admit I like the idea of the dash 1, but it appears to suggest you need a data logger as well. Does anyone here have one and can give some advise on fittment and final cost?
“The ECU interface is 80.00 GBP and the special cable for the DASH1 would in the order of 25.00 GBP its not a standard item but we have made them before for other customers.”
I’m going to see them at Autosport and have a natter about it. I intend using it with a DTA ECU though
I have fitted one of the SPA design dual oil temp and pressure gauges into the left hand centre airvent in the dash. These gauges are exactly the right diameter to fit in the vents. IMHO its a much neater installation that a separate gauge pod.
Interested to hear more about the dash 1 solution as well as I’ve already got a DL1. Where would you mount it?
Thanks I might give them a call to see what it will actualy monitor, I was thinking of mounting it underneath the dash above the centre divider.
Shame Autosport is Birmingham wrong end of the country for me
The defi gauges as shown above are the best. You can also get a small display unit rather than the analogue style gauges. I think the display unit will show upto 4 readings ie saves having 4 gauges cluttering the dash. They can also be set up to sound a buzzer or a red warning light to warn you at set levels ie when oil gets too hot. There is quite often a group buy going on the P1woc web site for these. they are not cheap, but they are great.
Because if you buy the LCD unit rather than the analogue style gauges you can get 4 readouts in a single gauge and the rectangular readout is small and easy to locate on the dash. Take a look at the defi web site. I think you can also get a head up display.
The link display is here, I may have been wrong as it looks like it can only display 2 readouts at the same time, although you can scroll through loads of different ones: http://www.defi-shop.com/product/dp/dp_top.html
Another product which may work is the Blitz R-vit. This just plugs into the diagnostic port on jap cars. It may work on the lotus as it has a jap engine…It displays loads of info off the ECU and I think you can also buy senders for it so that it will also display oil temp etc.
I got the Scangauge 2 delivered a couple of days after it was ordered and I was impressed with the item small well designed etc, however it doesn’t work in the Exige it does work in my 2000 fiesta and gives real time information as expected. I have contacted them and they are confused as to why it won’t work so are investigating. If they can’t resolve it they have offered a full refund.
I am impressed with them as a company as they have acted in the way you would expect to an issue, I hope they can get it to work as it will be a very beneficial tool.

It’s due to the refresh rate coming from the lotus dash, it’s known for being very slow from what I’ve read. Many other ODB2 readers fail to. Once connected the refresh rate is OK, but connection takes an age so the ODB2 reader times out waiting for a connection.
Shame as I would live to get a Scangauge. Aparently they will work on the 08 dash’s
