Garage / Workshop / Man Cave

Thinking about bulldozing the crappy single garage I have and putting one of these ‘log cabin’ style workshops at the bottom of the garden. Thinking I need:

  • Double car space
  • Decent workbench
  • Separate area for garden tool crap
  • Proper plumbed in power & air lines
  • Inspection pit.
  • PC, Plasma TV and Stereo

Lets see some pics of your project workspaces.

something like this

Looks good. Maybe need a source of heating, decent security, and a fire extinguisher or two.

I’ve always regretted not having a house with direct access to a garage without going outside.

I’m a londoner, so really have to take what I can get! Best place is at the end of the garden.

Yeah decent security needed, and I’d get a small gas heater or something to take the chill off.

Fire extinguisher (and good insurance) a must.

Mate you need something big enough for two cars so mine can winter there :sunglasses:

Decided ,like you,I needed man-space

Nice

It was a must have when I bought my new house to have a double garage or space to build one. Managed to find one in the end. Sadly I really still don’t have enough space which surprised me, I own too many bikes cars go karts tools etc.
So a new large shed is required as I can’t extend the garage :frowning:

tripple garage, thats taking it on a level!

I’m still going to need somewhere to stash bikes and lawn mowers etc, so might see if I can put a side shed on it too.

The wooden ‘cabin’ style workshops do appeal.

Thats a man cavern! I love it!

What’s under the sheet

how’d you tank the pit out?

I’m no builder but up the top of a hill on chalk it was damp they were worried about, not the water table. I understand it was some sort of membrane on top of an insulation level. They also chucked lots of bitumen about the place. This works brilliantly but is not quite full standing height as there are drains below. Any competent builder will be able to do this (and fairly cheaply). Might be worth a look at preformed pits, ‘tech-mate’ I think was the name.

yeah I’m sure it’s easy enough, I was going to make a 2 part mould out of ply and stick a load of concrete in. Lucky enough I’m on a hill too.

I had a pit at my last house but it was just full of kids bikes

Your’e supposed to keep the pit covered when the kids are riding there bikes on the drive and into the garage!!

Oh I’d not thought of the storage offered by a pit

Humble, but it keeps her dry
