Garage Flooring

I am looking at giving the garage a makeover with units and new flooring.

Anyone recommend any type of plastic interlocking tiles as there seems to be a huge range of options and prices?

The rubber flooring might also be an option but the size of the garage will mean multiple strips and I was bothered that the joints might lift.

My garage floor is on the list of jobs to do as I’m sure I’ve bored you with that one! Mrs T wanted paint, I want tiles. Pete Fisher told me of his supplier and a pal near me has shown me the stuff he used, Ecotile. I think we’ll go for that in the New Year

Can’t believe they don’t offer white as a standard colour !! how else are you expected to have the chequerboard pattern

A good quality epoxy floor paint Steve.

^^^^^^ this, from watco

Floor is painted at the moment Tim but I fancy tiles now

Floor will need to be super flat (technical builder term) if the tiles are to sit level and not rock as the car moves over. You’ll need to remove all loose surfaces/laitence & maybe even do a few ‘pull off tests’ before using a levelling screed, good quality bedding adhesive + tile + grout.

Maybe worth looking if you could go vinyl (some welded joints & £££’s) or a spray plastic membrane (£££’s)?

Well Rob, I guess at your age, ‘pull off testing’ is probably now a good idea mate!

Peasants :unamused:

I delegate that, these days

I would be VERY careful delegating the ‘Cross Cut Test’ mate! :open_mouth:

hahaha

A cheaper alternative to the pucka flooring tiles is this stuff from CostCo… I did my garage in this a few years ago and I have to say its been pretty good.

Better than paint in my opinion… 2 rolls did my garage.

Pete has similar stuff and it looks good but his doesn’t have joins like I will have.

How’s yours where the rolls join Dave?

Love Costco!

Yeah that Costco stuff looks good. Mine has old carpet down in it and it is a pain to keep clean.

I just overlapped the rolls on mine by 6 inches or so, it’s only pretty thin so it’s no big deal… I’m sure the official instructions suggested gluing it down, but I didn’t bother and it’s been pretty good.

For the price I think its been great, and easily replaced if it gets knackered.
