turns out my ecu was never calibrated to the engine! all the settings were over exagerated! ecu showed 1 bar boost when a gauge plugged in showed .4! how could they have not checked something as simple as that! been done over 500 i want a fucking refund! luckly the guy on it now knows his stuff and will be giving me 300 bhp monster!
ill write up next week a list of problems that the previous mapping garage did and i want to see if u guys can see a way of gettin some money back. i feel very short changed especially when it cost me 500 for shit all and this guy who is mapping it is costing 200! wtf! any comments, thoughts, tales of previos refunds are wqelcome!
thanks guys andy.
re performance in bury took the car off me. it had 8psi pulley.
they said they dont know and that was it!
they said the boost is at full (watever that meant)
the ecu has not been configured with the engine…exagerations…ie…ecu read a bar of boost, the guy mapping it quickly plumbed in a boost gauge and it read .4 of a bar! why did re not do this, its a quick simple test and one they should have done to an engine 60 bhp doen on the normal amount!
i think re were over their heads and when they realised they could not solve the puzzle they washed their hands of it buy saying we dont know…its not on. i paid for a job and it was not done. the map they put on i gave them on a disc, all they had to do was tweek it…500 is a fooking joke
I agree with you, its bad news when you don’t get what you pay for.
But looking at what you have said.
you have an 8 psi pulley
your new guy is saying that the engine is only making 0.4 bar which is 5.9psi
your new guy is saying the ECU is seeing 1bar of boost wich is 14.7psi
Three completly different figures, and none of them are the 8 psi that the SC should be giving with that pulley on.
The only way the ECU can be seeing 14.7 psi with only an 8 psi pulley is if the sensor telling the ECU the boost pressure, is knackered.
If the engine is only making 5.8psi with an 8 psi pulley, then that is what your new guy should be looking at, to be honest there are a few reasons why it could be down on boost and it could be related to the faulty sensor that is telling the ECU the wrong boost.
Good luck with getting yourself a refund. I reckon your best bet is to find out what is actually wrong and then go back to them with that.
right…progress…8 psi now…but!
only 212 bhp @ the wheels. the guy thinks its either exhaust or filter causing the restriction. my filter is not new and fairly old blitz thing… the exhaust it standard civc tr manifold…into collector then an elise parts (loud) back box. compression is fine…electrics are spot on fuel is perfect…im hoping its the filter…cheap to replace and a 2min job. will find out by thurs.

Standard civic manifold won’t help. I clean large size open cone filter is what you want too. The eliseparts silencer will be fine if no loud.
Oh anf just because the pulleys are sold as 8 psi does not mean you wull get 8 psi. A breathing set up will reduce the boost and up the power.
