Fuelpump wiring

Has any of you seen/experienced what is described here.
That when you upgrade the fuelpump and don’t upgrade the wiring.
The fuelpump will get noisy due to the stock fuelpump wires not beeing able to provide sufficent voltage?

Just use a 260 pump as used by Lotus, no more noise than standard and direct fit with no need to solder wires etc etc etc. Good for 300 bhp and more…

Also happy to supply the alloy securing cap seperately, fits both the Denso 260 pump and the Walbro’s…

Do you mean voltage or current draw?

It should be easy to calculate if the max power spec of each pump is know and then ensure the current wiring is fit for purpose or needs upgrading and if so to what spec.

Putting a higher voltage through an electrical motor will increase power but I would have thought the spec would not call for this?

We’re talking about fitting a walbro 255l pump, with stock wiring.
And I would think that the issue is wether or not the gauge of the stock wiring allows sufficent current to pass through(thin wires, more resistance).
Regarding the current draw of the walbro pump,
this link indicates that the current draw may be less than 10amps (assuming stock fuel pressure is less than 50 psi).
And given that the fuel pump fuse is 20amps, the wiring shouldn’t be the problem, otherwise somebody has done a terrible job, when specifying a 20 amp fuse for wiring which can’t take it.

just fit a walbro255, with stock wiring

well, now i understand the nickname “whinebro”

but i have to precise that my mate didn’t fit back the plastic panel as it’s a PITA to install/remove with the harness bar, and removed the foam installed for the speakers

Thats what Im almost finished doing
Hopefully the noise from the pump isnt That bad.

I have the same pump installed in my impreza “rallycar”(stripped interior), and there I havent heard much noise from the pump.

it is noisier than before, but don’t know if the missing plastic panel and the foam attenuate the noise from the pump or not
