Fuel evaporating in the fuel lines??

Hi All,

Haven’t posted in a long while, been in France sans Exige

Back enjoying the sunshine, and trying to get across central London now & again, and am running into a bit of a problem.

It appears that slow moving traffic plus hot temperatures and a hot engine is leading to the fuel being vaporized in the fuel lines (this is a comment from South West Lotus). The K-series tries repeatedly to stall as I slow to a stop (having to ride the throttle as I bring the car to a stand-still before the idle control takes over), and then pulling away requires far too much throttle to prevent stalling. Both symptoms seem to indicate that the engine ‘needs’ fresh, liquid fuel to be pumped to the engine and fast!

If the diagnosis is correct / makes sense … any suggestions for fixing or at least curtailing the problem??

I don’t want to spend the rest of the summer looking like a complete ass revving my engine at traffic lights, and pulling away with squealing tyres … well … not all the time

Hi, not sure about the fuel thing but symptoms sound similar to a dodgy throttle sensor, have you tried the TPS reset procedure?

I had similar symptoms when one of the vacuum line T-piece connectors had broken.

Thanks all,

That gives me two new lines of attack, and the answer to both questions is no - haven’t run through the reset procedures, haven’t checked lines for cracks / leaks and the like. Car of this age probably should as a matter of course.

I had masses of problems with my VHPD until I fitted a new lambda probe, now it drives almost as well as any k series. Note the ecu does not switch on the check engine light with a dead probe. Mine was ok when cold but drove like a dog once warm, as the lambda sensor did not work closed loop. I have never had problems of fuel vaporisation.
