As the description says - 36mm 2 way ohlins dampers taken off my 2-11.
Covered approx 2.5k and in very good condition
N.b These are not a direct replacement for std units as the damper bodies are shorter than that for the S2 exige. You will also require the following items to complete the set-up (available from Russ Gibbons @ Lotus M/S)
2 (off) Modified 2-11 front upper wishbones (approx. 140 each)
2 (off) Modified 2-11 front steering control arms (approx 85 each)
2 (off) Steering rack raiser plates (approx 1.50 each)
With the shorter damper bodies and modified control items this set-up will automatically lower the car down to the 2-11 factory settings with no fuss.
Missed the boat boys. Someone at the factory has clicked and the price for the steering control arms has gone up 200%, they will now cost you 500 for a pair from Lotus.
I’ll be keeping the whole set-up as spares!!
Just out of interest why did’nt these sell?? I would have thought this a fantastic mod for s2 exige owners and if i still had mine I would have jumped at it? Discuss.
Quote from Nick Adams on the 2elevenforum regarding suspension travel on the 2-11 -
" Measured at the wheel rim from a 100 F / 110 R base ride height the car has 19mm of bump and 44mm of droop at the front and 22mm of bump and 40mm droop at the rear. Now you can see why I get sweaty when people start wanting to drop their cars below 90mm ride at the front…
I don’t have Exige S figures to hand, but it has about 10-15mm more bump and simliar droop at both the front and the rear. Note that the Exige rides at 130mm all round, so at the same ride heights as the 2-Eleven it has almost no bump travel at all!

My reason is that I didn’t want to have to fiddle with arms / wishbones.
There seems to be a lot of confusion with Ohlins (to me anyway!) as there have been a couple of sets sold on here which i’m sure weren’t correct for the Exige.
I was almost there but spoke to the Lotus Field engineer who deals with my car and he was insistent that the 211 Ohlins were not correct for the exige due to valving etc
I did intend on speaking to motorsport but been really busy and never got the time. Its a shame as I will be swapping my dampers pretty soon by the looks of it.

Back to normal… can’t agree that you should be doing that!
After 1 trackday (albeit on a go-kart circuit) you have decided that you need to change the suspension because the car rolls a bit. Spend the dosh on more trackdays & tyres, then only change the dampers when they’re shot, or you’re doing 10 trackdays a year

You’ll be buying a new intercooler next
lol, believe it or not my std dampers have gone noisey and its quite annoying. Its been pointed out by the dealer who does not really want to change them but agree they are noisey so kind of feel that my arm is being forced a little. There is a thread on seloc atm so I am not on my own, just figured an upgrade is as good a way as any to get rid of the noise
Well they seem to say this is a common issue, so I am guessing the dampers are not fooked just noisey, think S1 koni’s.
Still its bugging me so I’ll probably just change them so everyone gets a quiet life
