Get a stick on plate. They don’t get in the way, and they don’t break off.

BTW, fitted to my Elise - they do a decent job and you can obviously fit them as wide / narrow as you want, depending on the size of your plate. Leaves the plate not quite vertical (the only way they fit flush to the 2 surfaces they fit to), but that’s not the end of the world. Plate is angled forward slightly.
