Front Number Plate Mount...

I have taken the front stick on number plate off the car as I really don’t like them.

Currently running around without a number plate. Tempted to carry on, until I get stopped… then I will put a small plate on - what bracket are people using? How does it fit? Where can I buy one? I have a front splitter, if that makes any difference…

Thanks

Elise Parts can supply you for about 20 mate or you could try the dealer I guess.

The mounts from Elise parts are for an S1 Elise not an Exige, so won’t fit as standard. Tried the dealer… no luck.

Another gold dust Exige part, I don’t know then mate. Hopefully someone will have a pair they no longer need. Good luck!

I will try to get a photo of mine over weekend to see if you coul;d get one made

Right I have spoken to Ben & Colvill and they can supply one, as per them image below:

Price is 17.85 + vat.

I am surprised at the lack of responses, considering the number of cars in the owners section that have a solution to this…very disappointing!

Thanks to those who responded.

Anyway details are now here for future reference.

Easy Mark, you only started the post this afternoon, there aren’t zillions of people on Exiges, so replies do take a while to come through sometimes.

Glad you’ve got it sorted!!

I have been thinking about a number plate mount for the front of my car as I am sure an irate copper, wont like mine just being shoved on the front of the dash.

Sean, I’m sure stainless Steel or Aluminium would be better than some “irate copper” !!
lol lol

Drilled into the front splitter-much neater.

Point taken, I wasn’t in a good mood. So apologies for being a little impatient!

Drilled what into the front splitter? Is there another bracket you recommend?

lol. Yeah i reckon some kind of right angle bit of stainless or ally would do the job.

Mark this is more difficult to describe than do …

Look under the splitter and you will see 4 tapped holes, the Edwards have 4 slots in their spliiter so you can still see them …
Get some card about 10mm wider than the outer two holes and after unscrewing the nylon screws holding the Edwards splitter a little slide the card in between the Edwards splitter an dteh original - so it covers the 4 holes.
Make sure the card is square and poke something through the card into the tapped holes - then use two bolts to hold it.

Now you can fold the card up and cut it so there is about 50mm standing up.

Undo the two bolts - pull the card out and use it as a template for some thin aluminium from B&Q.

Thats what I did … and I use a 3/4 sized front plate that fits perfect.

Equally 17.50 aint that bad

I find the standard mount a life save. It always hits the speed bump first as a warning and gives the front spliter a litle prtection.

Does not look the best though, I have been very tempted to go for a small from plate mounted in the same way

Thanks for that - doesn’t sound too difficult - although I am not sure how it will fit in between the standard splitter and the lower lip spoiler…as per the pictures below:

Just leave the broken bits of the plate in the passenger footwell.
