I noticed the other weekend that one of my front disks has cracked all the way through from one of the drill holes Standard Lotus disks and done 10,000 miles in 2 n half years so out of warranty. I’m not keen on replacing them with the standard items, gawd knows how much they will be and can’t afford at the moment the AP route. So, has anyone replaced with anything else? I’m thinking along the lines of the EBC turbo groove brake disks from Hangar 111 at 160 a pair. Anybody had experiance of these disks or knows anywhere cheaper? Or indeed anything better around the same price? I’ve done various searches but can’t come up with much info.
Cheers guys.
John
This time when you’re getting replacement, opt for slotted only and not cross-drilled like OEM ones. Cross-drilled are more asthetics and also the reason for the cracks.
While, Sector 111 has some good replacement 2 piece rotors, the shipping price to UK won’t be justified in consideration.
It might be worth giving a lotus dealer a ring and asking how much the std items are first JayCee. My guess is they will be about 250-280 for a pair.
They are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be when used with a sensible pad combo (either use the std pads or 42’s or equivilent i.e somethinhg not too agressive).
There are 4 new ones for sale on pistonheads for 300? Vendor reckons they were 400 new.
John, I have a set of 4 discs taken from an s2 exige which had covered just 1000mls,
I bought them in error for my s1 a couple of years ago, 100 the set to you
Best advice already given , if you just want disks, go for the ones offered cheap in this thread.
Its best to avoid disks with any drillings though. Plain ones are better even if you can’t afford anything flash.
Cheers Chris. PM sent.

Not sure if this is any help but the ignis sport forum (sisoc) has a 15% discount plus free delivery for the ebc website.
Thanks everyone for the replies and thanks Chris for the disc sale. Fronts swapped over and car now sorted. It was only the front nearside that was cracked, in three places! I guess heat is the cause as the cooling vanes run the wrong way so don’t get the airflow through to cool them as well as the offside. It’s worth checking your cars as mine had only done 10,000 miles before the disc went.
