Front Clam removal?

Totally agree, OEM radiator is terrible quality. I blew mine at spa last year and replaced it in the paddock with Essex Autosport. I didn’t touch the fans or air con, if you are careful in un bolting them they should separate.

Triple pass pro alloy now fitted

Fans both good…blimey they do move some air!!

What rad did you go for Phil?

Pro alloy triple pass…on back order at the mo. Wayne recons a couple of weeks.
But plenty of tidying up jobs and a good clean up to be done while the clam is off.
Tow post, driving lamp brackets removed stripped and repainted with black satin Hammerite smooth and remounted using all marine grade stainless steel bolts.
Anti roll bar off cleaned and re painted in yellow satin Hammerite smooth. Bloody good match to the original colour.
Will change front pads too, soooo much easier while the clam is off.
Also going to repaint the front grills before refitting the clam.
Once this is all done recon I might take the rear clam off for a good old clean and tidy up

Have you tried Dave at Seriuosly for stock of pro-alloy rads?

Thanks for that. I did look at his site but to be honest I’m in no rush.
SORN’ed the car until next year.

As an aside…I was going to make the holes in the bracket on the clam that fixes under the windscreen…slotted
ie. cut the bottom out of the hole, so the clam will slip over loosely fitted bolt from the top…then tighten.
Should make it easier to add shims too.
Wot you all recon?

I wouldn’t bother to be honest. You need to be able to pull that part of the clam apart to get it over the windscreen surround, so you may need to virtually remove the bolt anyway. I would replace the bolt with a proper allen bolt, rather than the button head one that Lotus insist on using

How about something that could be hand tightened, shallow exposed thread using a nut towards the end. Or leave them off, the quarter panels and bolts under the access panels do a good job regardless.

If it ain’t broke …

Cheers Gav
Got both single and triple pass in stock!!
