Front clam off..

Chaps,

How much hassle is it to take the front clam off?

Is it something I can do on my own or do I need someone with me to shout at when it all goes wrong. Do they go back on ok or it is a real problem to get them shimmed up etc?

How long a job is it?

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Mark…

Easy job, possible with one, better with two.
Remove wheel arch liners and don’t forget to disconnect the wiring for the lights at the connector. Also replace the nasty original jubilee clips on the radiator hose while your there.

Thanks Adam, any idea how long it takes, an hour each way I’m guessing?

It can take that long to take off the wheelarch liners if the fixings have gone west…

It is a good idea to buy some spare fixings so you can chuck the broken ones away, and put the car back together without a wait…

The workshop manual tells you what is fixed where and what order to undo things in…

There is already link somewhere on the site, but I expect some kind person will put up a shortcut.

Yeah I would say about an hour each way. It’s not a hard job at all. As has been mentioned, its a good plan to replace some of the rusty fixings with nice new stainless ones as well.

Sean…

Thanks guys, I’ll give it a go then.
