Got the gearbox out at the moment for an uprated clutch release bearing.
Doing the usual jobs whilst at it incl ap clutch, release arm etc.
Thought about swapping the flywheel for a lightened one.
Anyone know the weight of the standard flywheel and is it different to the elise one?
The standard one is around 7,3kg. I don’t know if it’s the same as in the Elise.
Given the weight however i suppose it’s the same. 7,x kgs is a common weight for standard cars.
Got the clutch off now…is this the standard flywheel for the S1? Looks lightened to me…just wondering if replacing with similar looking Eliseparts one will reap any benifits?
that really looks like a lightened flywheel or at least lighter than 7kgs. If that really is the standard S1 flywheel my information was wrong. I had that information from a guy whose information i usually trust, so sorry for that.
It could be that the previous owner had it replaced but it wasn’t listed as a mod he had done.
I’d weigh it if I could get the bolts undone!
Probably not worth changing it now looking at it though.

Just to confirm that that looks the same as the S1 Exige flywheel and should weight around 4.3kg, don’t believe the misleading crap that Eliseparts will tell you, the S1 Exige came with a lightened flywheel as standard and it’s possible that the Elise did aswell ?
